Legacy Altar of Epic Rituals (fails)

So I have a lot of old epic items and was trying to upgrade to the newer version using the altar, nothing works. Any of the items I put in with the siberys dragonshard fragments just says failure. Is this not working? Do I need to toss all my old junk I've collected and remake? If so what's the point of the altar to update old epic items?

I think they changed it to no longer require the dragon shards. try just putting the item in the altar.

Tried updating my old Epic Templar's Retribution (B.Sword) and it still did not update. Goes through the motion, says Item reforged or whatever it says, but same stats as before.

Not sure if the items you are trying to update are from the same pack but the Web items don't seem to be working still.

Thanks guys! I put it alone in the altar and gave me an essence. Then closed altar reopened and placed essence in *crunch* and now have the updated item!
