    Default Crowdfund updates/fixes.

There are a number of things that ddo players would to see fixed or updated. Many are being worked on, but some are too big of an undertaking for the current budget.

So, I had the thought that some of these bigger projects could be crowdfunded, which allows the company to figure out how much it would take to do the project, and only follow through if enough cash was generated. Also, can start with polls to see which projects to aim for.

This is also goodm because it lets the community see how much is needed and how close you're getting. If it falls through, the community knows that it was lack of funds rather than devs/corporate declining.

Also shows the company that undertaking a project is worth it because players will have paid for it, so they know without doubt that it will be a worthwhile project to focus on.

Because they're a private company and not a for hire outfit. It would be like throwing a kickstarter for any other company, it's just not how things work.

I've seen some companies do that, or established authors try to kickstarter stuff and it's like...you have $$ just do it yourself, jerk lol.

It's easy to say they have money, but if you run numbers, they really don't. Any money they have will put towards making more money, and they need to guess about the best place to put that money, which means they want to avoid risk. Crowdfunding not only avoids the risk, but actually shows investment as safer and more viable, because it proves people are interested, and for moderate project pieces such as adding a race or updating scaled ui, there is no risk to the investment because the income to pay for it is already there. It's a great option for both sides, when it works. Failure however could make things worse, but that's risk for the community rather than the corporate guys deciding where to spend money.

Make Tenser's and Otto's Box a permanent store item, that's the money sorted.

No, it's not. Aside from the game;s economy being a rust bucket, the business men that make the financial choices that probably have never touched a game before have far more things to consider. For them, where to put money is a strategy game with people's lives on the line. To say nothing of the health of the game itself and how such an action would impact that.

It isn't that simple. Hence my suggestion, which eases the financial decision making, but there are still the other strategic considerations.
