Guess who's back, back again! Nonviolence from Argo here with another Adventure Pack idea. /I just don't quit, do I/ Anyway! On to the quests!
Quest Range: Levels 10, 10, 12 Heroic / All Level 25 Epic, Quest Chain located in House J. Possible TP cost, maybe 450 tp.
There's a spot above the pond that has seating in stone. I believe it used to be past the old Reincarnation Grove. I always thought something would be added there.
Plot Hook:
Like many other Adventurers, even if most of your motivations lie in Coin, Equipment and Advancement of your experiences, you are still taken to righting wrongs where you can. A bit of Heroism can do the body good after all. Eases all the guilt and soothes the conscience. To that end, you are seeking to do good! But alas, no one needs your help at this juncture. Just as you're considering turning in for the day, a voice drifts out from above you on a stone platform... "You there... do you think you can HELP me?" without even a moments consideration, you reply "YES!"
The voice is Isaac Berestwaithe, Associate of The Twelve and frequent traveler. Beside him is Par Emikk who manages many of House Jorasco's healing and helping services. Swamped with work, Isaac directs you to him, and he in turn asks you to help with 3 problems that he has no resources to tackle at the moment.
Quest 1: A Collector's Duress
Byarny Thern is a Wilderness Researcher contracted by House Jorasco to roam the wilds of Xen'Drik and observe, study and retrieve specimens of Plants and Animals. When out on his most recent expedition, he encountered several rare specimens deep in the jungle. A collection of 3 Beetles that he thinks have useful pharmaceutical properties. Unfortunately, they did not come back with him, as he was waylaid by a sudden raid from Wildmen and other Xen'Drik Horrors. To that end, he has asked that you head into the jungle and retrieve his research samples and the specimens.
Objectives:
- 1. Collect 3 Missing Beetles
- 2. Collect 15 Research Notes
- 3. Clear the Jungle of Threats
- 4. Defeat the Mother Scorpion
- 5. Locate the Rare Plant for the Collector
- --Optional : Eliminate the Wildman threat (Bonus if you do it peacefully VIA Diplomancy)
- --Optional : Cleanse the Undead in the Dark Thicket (Requires Religious Lore)
The quest would be a large open space, typical of a Xen'Drik Jungle romp, where you roam looking for 3 Named Beetles. One is being attacked by mobs (like Scorpions), one will skitter away from you and one is just hiding around. Random placement. The Research Notes will also be scattered about, but the final Plant is always in the same place. To access the undead opt, speak to the Priest of Balinor if you have the appropriate amount of Divine levels (Paladin, Cleric, FvS, Also Druid) and he'll open the way to that portion of the map (a marked door).
Enemy List : Panthers / Razor Cats, Scorpions, Wildmen, Earth Elementals, Vine Horrors, Drow Patrol (Umbragen), Jungle Griffons, Bugbears, Wolves, Worgs, Bullywugs, Lizardfolk. +Zombies, Ghouls, & Ghosts.
Quest 2: Well and Good
Adriann d'Jorasco is a young Cleric initiate that has lost his pet Frog down an old well at the edge of his property. A quiet fellow by his nature, he does not wish to bother Par Emikk with his request if he can help it. Looking towards you, he asks quite plainly if you can go into the well and find his pet. His fear of great heights, great depths and claustrophobia keep him from accompanying you, but you assure him it won't be but a moment before he'll be reunited with his animal companion.
Objectives:
- 1. Descend into the Well
- 2. Locate the False Wall
- 3. Find the Stone-Carved Tunnel
- 4. Eliminate the Cult of Khyber Zealots (5)
- 5. Find the Gem-Studded Tunnel
- 6. Eliminate the Beholders (5)
- 7. Find the Calm Pool of Crystal Water
- 8. Grab the Missing Frog.
- -- Optional: Clear out all the Rats
- -- Optional: Defeat the Troglodyte Brood Mother
- -- Optional: Collect 10 Gems
This quest starts off as a short climb down into a well, clearing various enemies and then several secret doors later, becomes servants of the overlord. You keep going down and down until you reach the depths of Khyber and the beholder caves. Of course, the Frog is happily minding its own business in a subterranean pool of water.
Enemy List : Bats, Rats, Spiders, Troglodytes, Umber Hulks, Hezrou, Cult of Khyber Kobolds, Cult of Khyber Orcs, Cult of Khyber Humans, Oozes, Fire Reavers, Beholderlings, Beholders, Armored Beholders.
Quest 3: A Fine Mess Indeed
Kartimus ir'Shim'Serr is an alchemist associated with House Jorasco's potion and concoction laboratory. A bit scatter-brained, he had lost track of time whilst waiting on several solutions, salves and other mixtures to precipitate and as a result, his absentmindedness lead to them exploding, wrecking up his place of work. In a rather unusual request for an adventurer, you have been asked to help his Lab Assistant Tchotchke the Kobold with cleaning up. One small caveat, the spells have produced a number of bizarre effects, and the property is crawling with experiments and slime!
Objectives:
- 1. Clear the Central Lab of Enemies.
- 2. Clear the East Wing of Hostile Spells
- 3. Clear the South Wing of Hostile Constructs
- 4. Clear the North Lab of Oozes
- 5. Clear the West Lab of Animated Objects
- 6. Re-Start the Security System (Rune Activation - INT Check, Wheel Puzzle similar to The Pit)
- 7. Re-Start the Filtration System (Tile Puzzle + Central Cube like a small version of Ghost of a Chance, Locked Levers)
- 8. Clear the Storage Room of Aberrations
- 9. Defeat the Spell-Charged Dire Wolf
- 10. Activate Safety Protocols (5 Switches around Map)
- -- Optional: Fix all the broken Gates (Repair Skill Check)
- -- Optional: Destroy ALL the Empowered Arcane Oozes (A Unique Ooze that can cast spells, Orange-Named)
- -- Optional: Stop the Fire in the Central Lab by disabling the safety on the Sprinklers (Disable Device Check)
Arranged much like a simpler version of Haywire Foundry or Best Laid Plans, you have to navigate the lab and perform several tasks. Otherwise a very straightforward quest with unique enemies to fight, much like how Soul Splitter had many odd mobs like Prismatic Dogs. Experiments run amok, constructs too. And Oozes... so many oozes. They even explode!
Enemy List : Warforged (Unstable), Warforged Tempest (Spell Cursed), Prismatic Wolves, Giant Attack Squirrels, Weapon-Mounted Spiders, Blink Dogs, Living Spells (Disintegrate, Harm, Chain Lightning, Fireball, Force Missile, Acid Blast), Armored Defenders, Shield Guardians, Black Puddings, Oil-Slick Slimes (Combustible), Arcane Oozes, Rust Monsters, Homonculi, Redcaps, various Animated Enemies (Boxes, Daggers, Spell casting vases and books), Sniper Drones, Iron Golems, Flesh Golems, Spell Cursed Yuan-Ti.
-- LOOT-- Note: People have told me SSG doesn't really do altered Threat anymore, so the weapons will always be based on standard weapon stats.
