No, I'm not buying it because the dev's don't fix lag, loadscreens, ladders, lack of customer service, (insert whatever else I missed here)

I'm not buying it because they are selling back archer after nerfing the hell out of it.
Agreed. Will be a nope x 3 accounts for me due to the same reasons you stated.

I will clarify however that they haven't necessarily nerfed just archers recently. They have nerfed ALL ranged builds to the point where shuricannons and thrower builds aren't any fun to play. Archers are at least still viable since they buffed them a little to counter the ranged DPS nerfs.

I didn't even get into the nerfs and the messing with the items. Also a reason to send a message.

Aren't Vips supposed to get the all packs for free anyway? Now they are calling packs mini expansions LOL!

    this.

please let's take a moment to consider something i would like to stress.

they didn't even tried to fool us by calling them, dunno, a new offer, a special set of classic modules, a series of special releases inspired to the classics, a series of campaigns, really, whatever, just trying to have it look new, special, different, not a pack, but not an expansion either, something...new, a different offer, a different product, with its own features and goods.

they did really choose mini-expansion. like, they stated clearly "it is not an expansion, but we are charging you all, specially vips, like it was" with a straight face and they bundled the stuff exactly like an expansion, but it is not an expansion. seriously, ddo management is horrible, who decided this? who approved this? who pushed for this? after lotro fiasco, who decided it was cool to repeat it with ddo? no one had doubts about labeling it (actually, them, this is only the beginning, it's only the first) as such? the name alone, this is what i want to stress, it's a mockery.

    it is insulting.

edit: i must correct myself, i said ddo management is horrible. no. wrong. ssg management is horrible, the same applies to lotro too. someone is making both ddo and lotro devs look bad, ruining their work and leaving them to deal with and read posts such as this one and many other posts of raging customers.

I love the Saltmarsh tabletop quests. They are some of my favorites.
But, I have a real issue with the concept of it being a "mini-expansion", and I really don't want to support or encourage that idea. I feel that as a decade+ VIP, it's a slap in the face. If they wanted to bundle all the cosmetics and hirelings and other ephemera into a Saltmarsh Upgrade, that would have been a better direction... but they went with the mini-expansion concept, despite it causing a ruckus over in LotRO, and it just feels to me like they are either just making a cash grab or testing DDO's tolerance for such. Probably both. I feel like the only "lessons learned" with the LotRO situation was to not try it in LotRO again, but see how the other fish in their pond bite at it.

I'm very disappointed in SSG right now. I no longer feel like I'm not a customer in their eyes, let alone a supposed VIP, just a wallet."

Quoting because this is surprising seeing this type of reaction from you in particular, and I hope the devs see it and course-correct. It's not too late.

    Thumbs down Nope

I'm not buying any option right now for the simple reason I'm not playing the game.

I'm waiting to see what U50/51 settles out to be before deciding if I'll return to the game or not.

If I do, then it'll almost certainly be the lowest tier package anyway. The other tiers offer nothing of value to me, and quite frankly I'm done paying for the sake of "supporting the game". I was happy to do that with Feywild, principally on the goodwill generated on the back of their excellent free quests offer amid Covid, which though of no direct benefit to me, I heartily applauded. But sadly they have somehow managed to burn off that goodwill as far as I'm concerned, so now it's a strictly transactional value decision, and the upper tier bundles just don't cut it.

So, not paying, not playing, right now. Just occasionally lurking like a bad smell on the forum.

All subject to review post U51, whenever that is...

As a decade+ premium player I will buy the top tier, of course. However, I get your point, just never having been VIP this is just like all of the other packs for me, with some cool stuff.

For those that are worried about the "value" of the tiers versus each other, I guess I just don't really worry about that stuff. There is no intrinsic value in any of it, the value comes from the enjoyment you get while playing the game. I have spent a lot of money in this game over the years I have been playing it, and yet, I'll bet that figured as x money spent per hour of enjoyment, this is by far the cheapest game I've ever bought.

It's all in the eye of the beholder, I guess, and whatever way someone sees it is the right one for them.

I will not be, I did not buy Feywild either and let me VIP lapse again this year returning to premium.

I do not agree with the direction they are going and do not agree at all with this monetization scheme / scam / direction. I went premium, owned EVERYTHING and when Hardcore came out I re-upped for 2 years because I approved the way they were headed event though VIP only really gave me 500 DDO points and x3 the cost.

Since then the direction I could not disagree more with. The mini-expansion was the absolute final straw for me that decision tells me VIP has NO value to them. It was enough for me. I'll still play what I have occasionally but I am off the gravy train, likely for good I expect and I thought it would make me sad or at least regretful but I honestly am just completely indifferent about it.

    It's $20, so yeah, I'll buy it.

I don't see what all the fuss is about.

If you like the bling, buy the bigger packs. If you don't, then buy the small one.

If you don't like VIP anymore, cancel VIP.

If you love this game, even if it does make you angry from time to time, support them.

If you are frustrated to the point that you cannot take it anymore and have no appreciation for the joy this game has brought over the years and the frustration means you cannot possibly enjoy it ever again because of all the horrible changes that seem to make it unplayable for you, but the rest of us are fine with, then quit. (And really quit, that means the forums too please.)

And if you just want to vent, but you will probably buy it anyway, then, yeah, good on you.

I will be buying the ultimate fan bundle.

Agreed with the prices being a little high, but I work my butt off for a living, I like to have nice things

I've thought this over all week. They certainly got me feeling good about the game again by practically giving away +8 supreme tome sets. I've decided to go with the mid-tier pack. I will use the hireling and I'm into the idea of a pirate mount and associated gear. Having HW off the jump before it eventually gets nerfed will be a bonus too. I don't think I'm getting great value for $54 but I just spent that at a bar Friday night and all I got was a headache the next day.

Your first set of points are good and I agree. It went downhill with the nonsense Archery comments sadly.
Troll is not a playable race.

If it was, you'd be nerfed already.

    i won't be,... yet.
I've lost all confidence and trust in the development of the game, and hence any will to play to further my toon. I'm going to wait until they decide what they are going to do with the future nerfs and then decide when a sale comes up in a few years and I've forgotten how much fun things used to be.

    Anyone else doing the same?
Nope. The news of Update 50 dropped right after I'd farmed out sets on 3 characters, which took a lot of effort that is likely now entirely unneeded because I could have just gone with my old Ravenloft sets. It just sort of opened my eyes to the pointlessness of it all. Because of U50, I've basically lost interest in the game.

I will buy the Ultimate Fan bundle. DDO can't keep producing quality content like Saltmarsh if the company only relies on VIP sub revenue.

    Default Not worth it

Call me when the chronic lag stops, the plat cap is increased, shared banking is cheaper, they create storage for useless cosmetics, they do some advertising, get some actual DM's that can answer you within 15 min if you have a problem, hire some real customer service, make VIP worth being VIP, and make me want to tell my friends about the game. SSG and DDO are so fixated on nerfs because the elite players have outsmarted them. This mountain is hard enough to climb, the road so long. Do you really have to make it a multi year project to become a completionist or mega completionist because the elite minority complain? They won, time to move on....I'll donate $5k for advertising to get new players in game if you think you can't afford it. What successful business doesn't do some type of advertising? I have never seen an ad for DDO, ever. Got some scuba diving and lobster hunting to do in the mean time.....later.

Default You all must be new here?!

Of course I'm going to buy it, like if they added a +9 tome I'd buy that, DDO is an addiction I've grown since 2006, when I was 8 years old.

You all talking about boycotting it and waiting until issues are fixed... have got to be joking. The staff here are in no way going to go "huh, they didn't buy the stuff lets fix all these issues then". They will simply sell more power to make up their losses.

They have at most 10 people working on the team, the issues people state might get fixed, but only for a short while.

Yes I'm buying it and yes I wish there was more value in the higher tier packs.
