Default Are you buying this new expansion?

The game is broken, lags, has performance issues, load screens, etc....This we all know, but more importantly we see little to no improvement. I feel that buying this expansion, just sends a message to SSG that even if the game is broken we will still buy it. So I will be passing on it.

    Anyone else doing the same?

    No, I'm not buying it.

No, I'm not buying it because the dev's don't fix lag, loadscreens, ladders, lack of customer service, (insert whatever else I missed here)

I'm not buying it because they are selling back archer after nerfing the hell out of it.

I plan to buy it for the following reasons:
    - Quest design has been great lately
    - The art team is absolutely knocking it out of the park lately
    - Must have the shiny new content so I can play everything

I'm still undecided what tier I'll get. Looking at the prices, it feels like the tiers above the base one don't add a lot of value.

I am still confused about if/how this differs from a regular expansion, apart from the scope.

I do feel like lag has improved lately.
Customer service continues to be a big thing to work on though. Several months ago it was said there were new tools for CS to use, but it doesn't feel like that's had any impact.

I would also like a more streamlined bug report form/system; IMO it's hard to even find the form without a direct link.
That's not lag, it's just DDO trying to become turn-based again.
Feature wishlist: colour-coded HP bars; red/blue teams in raids; rez-timer in party menu

Which Archer was nerfed to make you have to purchase the new tree?

Your first set of points are good and I agree. It went downhill with the nonsense Archery comments sadly.

I wasn't planning to, but my husband is trying to convince me to so we can play the new quests. If we do we're bying the small pack wtihout any of the extras.

Was planning to buy the top tier pack, but will settle for the low tier pack since I don't see much value in the top tiers.

Well, I am not buying it for practical reasons.
I only want the dungeons and the universal tree.

1st package - missing the tree, so no.
2nd package - full of fluff items and it over priced compared to what
I will pay when the 2 items hit the coin store. (assuming I buy the coins needed
because I don't have a large stash of them)
3rd package - you have got to be kidding (see package 2)

    so that is that

Honestly, I'm on the fence. I had been planning on going top tier, but I just don't see the value. Yeah, the artwork and cosmetics look good, but that doesn't justify the price. The Bottom tier is IMHO a decent price, but I'm a bit annoyed by the whole deal that I might just wait until I can get the expansion with points. With the other changes that are coming with U50/U51, I've been taking the wait and see approach, and this "Expansion" did nothing to help change my mind. So I'll wait and see what happens before making a decision.

Plan to get the biggest bundle, which I haven't done for any expansion since MOTU.

I am planning on getting the base version, and unlocking Horizon Walker with favor.

    I'm on the fence.

I love the Saltmarsh tabletop quests. They are some of my favorites.
But, I have a real issue with the concept of it being a "mini-expansion", and I really don't want to support or encourage that idea. I feel that as a decade+ VIP, it's a slap in the face. If they wanted to bundle all the cosmetics and hirelings and other ephemera into a Saltmarsh Upgrade, that would have been a better direction... but they went with the mini-expansion concept, despite it causing a ruckus over in LotRO, and it just feels to me like they are either just making a cash grab or testing DDO's tolerance for such. Probably both. I feel like the only "lessons learned" with the LotRO situation was to not try it in LotRO again, but see how the other fish in their pond bite at it.

I'm very disappointed in SSG right now. I no longer feel like I'm not a customer in their eyes, let alone a supposed VIP, just a wallet.

I will probably buy the mid pack for one of my accounts, mostly for the rogue hire (+ this account doesn't have easy access to mounts).
For my other account, I'll probably wait for TP.

Probably the $20 pack. I think it's a fine price compared to $40 Expansions. And from what I saw on streams the quests look really awesome! Especially the creeppy horror one that spooked the **** out of me. The town looks well designed and I like the new enemy types.

i feel bad for the people who worked at the good content & art (i didn't see it but i generally really like em) and i blame the awfully bad management.

    I disagree.

It seems to me they learned nothing at all.

I'll be buying the basic pack. First time I've not paid for the Ultimate bundle. I'm happy to pay for content, and happy to support the game in addition to my VIP sub, but there's nothing in the other packs that make it worth the extra cost.

I've already donated my additional £80 to an animal charity
