The best bit was that you posted this even before the puck had dropped in game 5.

Gratz to the Lightning, they have been the best NHL team for several years now. Quality all over the ice.

    GREAT all-round team.

Islanders, Vegas, Colorado, Toronto Hurricanes all have awesome hockey teams. Playoffs this year was a real test for everyone.

Tampa's bench is real deep. Their "Next man up" mentality paid off for sure this year due to injuries'.

Tampa earned that cup for sure.

And it really puts to rest the anguish over that weird (weird, weird) elimination in the first round back in 2019.

LOL sorry north of the border the cup winner this year is tagged as cheap 2 reasons 1) shortened season this is huge as the real grind of a nhl season wasnt completed (guess they ottoed last 30 games )

    2) balance wasnt there with divisons being only opposition but i agree tb was and is a fantasic team ........cap issues going forward though

I knew that was coming. I agree 100%

That "northern" division was weak sauce, and without the normal league-wide schedule, less developed teams has no way of playing with the leaders, and thus limiting the ability to improve by playing up.

In any scenario. TB was the best team all season, they earned that cup.

This last bit. Sure, this wasn't a normal season and definitely in the annals of the Stanley Cup it won't be held with the same regarded as non-covid seasons. But the finals were still the finals and the best team made it through the slog of four series.

Credit where it is due: those young Habs lads have a bright future.

I grew up on Lake Ontario watching the original 6 games broadcasted in French!! The Habs are 1 of my favorite teams.

and yes, those young guns Evans and Suzuki are the future. Evans especially, I see big things in that kid.

Canada wasnt going to let the Stanley Cup across the border, anyway, after residing in the US for the last year....
