Question "(Error): The text you entered is forbidden." Hmm... "Hardcore"

    See title.

I wanted to change the MOTD to announce the date of the new Hardcore season and kept getting the "forbidden" error. After checking everything else, I ended up putting a dash between "Hard" and "core" (Hard-core) and was able to submit my MOTD.

Kinda seems like shooting oneself in the foot when the guilds can't announce a future event. /shrug

I checked to see if anyone else had a problem with the "forbidden text" police. Today's event was the final straw for me.

I've been putting up guild "Message of the Day" quotes and announcements for years. And I am frequently bedeviled with that "forbidden text" nonsense. Here was today's proposed quote:

"I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me." ~ Hunter S. Thompson

Just a bid of humor to lighten the day but THEN I was told I couldn't put it up because it contained the dreaded "forbidden text." So as I often do I took the time to detect the textual culprit. Now, keep in mind I am well away the we have to be very careful in choosing our words, for we wouldn't want some virgin eyes or perverted minds to be unduly activated.

For instance you certainly wouldn't want to have a quote involving that famous detective of the comics, film, and radio, **** Tracy, because that's just the same as saying ***** Tracy or **** Tracy. Tsk, tsk, tsk, can't have THAT filth around, can we? Obvious my hope to quote that famous American patriot "John Hancock" didn't stand a chance. I might as well have been quoting "John Furiously************."

However, I learned, like you did that if I changed the name to "John Hanco-----ck" THAT was OK. That trick has allowed me to quote any number of famous, historical luminaries.

However, I was completely flummoxed (if I can say that word) with today's quote rejection: "I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me." ~ Hunter S. Thompson.

Can you guess the forbidden evil word? Probably not, so I'll tell you. "ADVOCATE" Yep, that was it. As soon as I changed "advocate" to "promote" everything thing was OK. God's in His heaven, all's right with the world.

Now, MY question is, what was evil about "advocate?" Yes, I know, we have to be careful using certain seemingly benign words for fear someone, whose mother tongue is not English, might get a wrong idea. So please explain why "advocate" is banished? Is it something like in Swahili "Advocate" = "Come rape my prepubescent little sister?"

    Inquiring minds want to know.

I presume you wanted to type the name: Dick Tracy, as in the fictional police detective.

Ahh, the Scunthorpe problem raises it's head once more
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

You presume incorrectly. As I wrote above, the word I wanted to use in my MotD was "advocate." I'm looking for a logical explanation as to why THAT word is forbidden.

Assuming its not been flagged because it somehow relates to politics. The "advoc" string is likely part of a reserved word within the Message of the Day, you'd have no issue whatsoever typing advocate within Party chat.
