Comparing a druid caster before and after update 50

Update 50 is a nerf to casters

So I just made this video comparing a druid fire caster before and after update 50 and I believe it to be a nerf to all casters.

Flamecleansed fury goes from providing 10 artifact spell crit chance to 6. Clouded dreams goes from 10 to 5. Normal lore items goes down from 31-32 to 21-22. For me it meant my crit chance dropped from 82 to 64.

The thing I noticed is you mana is a little less after the update and that combined with you dealing less damage means you will spend much more mana. So be aware of that.

This might mean you don’t have mana to empower, maximise and intensify spells anymore. Granted in update 51 they wanted to make some epic improved metamagic enhancements and I now see why.

Also I was not able to find Lynnabels post about them dropping the hitpoints of mobs by 25 to 50%. Therefore I am not sure if this is in update 50 or 51. If this was in update 50 and currently on lammania this does not bode well for casters after update 51 as their damage will decrease even more.

If it is to come in update 51 we might be ok.

I was in draconic for this test and that gives me +30 crit multiplier. When update 51 comes out this is no longer possible making this build do even less damage.

The era of melees might be coming with these nerfs.

My evocation dc before update is 103 and 91 after. Necromancy is 90 before and 78 after.

HP on monsters was not touched on Lam at all. And yes casters got a 30-40% damage reduction, it hurts, it hurts a lot. Also monsters only lost ~12 DC not the 22 that was mentioned in the notes.

Trash pulls on instances (at cap) that I consider easy became a mana-drain where just burning trash had me constantly shrining. Hopefully I'll be able to do some proper testing on preview 2 (if the HP reduction goes thru), but with preview 1, every fight was such a long drawn out slog fest that I can't really judge anything about the gear crunch beyond that. But I suppose all of us saying that it's painful to kill now as a caster with the spell crit/spell power/spell point reductions is the kind of feedback they need; so that'll hopefully result in good (or at least way better) mob health numbers next preview.

The worst case scenario is that the financial department is urging the company to create more need to buy from the ddo store - I have seen the game on a caster dumping all my mana on the 1st room of trash. I left and played and spent money on other games for 7 years.

I refuse to purchase mana potions to play a class - in fact no one should be required to purchase anything to play - store purchases should be amenities only, not requirements.

You could try actually reading the dev posts where they explicitly state that not all of the changes are in place.

But doomsaying is easier.
