Default New PC - Windowed Fullscreen mode suffering problems

My previous PC (i7, 980 ti, so no slouch) played the game perfectly in both fullscreen and windowed fullscreen modes. Had the game on ultra settings, DX11, using the 64-bit client.

New PC (newer gen i7, 3080) has a weird issue. In fullscreen on ultra settings, the game is buttery smooth. In windowed fullscreen, it's unplayable. Cannot figure out why.

On both systems, I use a G-Sync monitor and have G-Sync turned on for fullscreen and windowed modes.

I've tried putting all in-game settings at low and I've tried using DX 9, 10, and 11. Still unplayable in windowed mode.

Any ideas for me? I love playing in Windowed mode because it lets me pull up info on my second monitor much easier

    Thanks!

    UPDATE: Fixed it!

So, it turns out that for some games (especially older ones it seems), if you have the NVIDIA control panel Vsync setting set to "Use the 3D application setting" it doesn't actually respect this in windowed mode if you have vsync turned off in the game itself. I changed that to "Off" and now fullscreen windowed works perfectly.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions!

And in case anyone else runs across this, to change the settings head to NVIDIA Control Panel > 3D Settings > Vertical Sync and set it to "Off"

Doesn’t have integrated graphics. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Which OS, PC old & PC new ?

Did you try compatibility mode ?
I mean, DDO is quite old.

Well, this Windows Update released in April can cause that. There was supposedly a fix issued for it. Having desktop eye candy turned all the way up can also cause these symptoms in windowed mode as Windows literately attempts to draw the game with those visual "enhancements". Try running the game in that "full screen windowed" mode where the window is the same dimensions as the desktop and see if you have a similar issue. if so, turn down the visual effects on the desktop and see what happens.

Windows 10 Pro with latest updates on both systems. Have never needed compatibility mode before. And I suspect it's not the problem, since it runs perfectly in fullscreen.

Yep, tried that. Have also tried DX 9, 10, and 11. Works perfectly in fullscreen using all three. But not in windowed fullscreen. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Full Screen Windowed is what I ran on my previous system and it ran just fine. On the new system, full screen works perfectly, but not full screen windowed. Both systems are running Windows 10 Pro with the April updates.

Interesting idea on the visual effects. Gave it a shot, though, and alas, no love. Thanks for the suggestion, though!
