The problem with tracking enemies by their footprints is...
    Not all enemies have footsies.

The problem with tracking enemies by their footprints is they only teach that skill to Rangers. The rest of us are clueless. "Wait, is that the print a three-toed Tobias? I thought they were extinct!"

Making the rest of your party wait long enough to not charge over the said footprints.
Just a random, forgettable NPC doing things an NPC does
Things that NPCs do include, but are not limited to:

Having a gold goblet over my head to indicate availability of a quest
Having a catchphrase that never really catches on
Having various rewards that are generally not worth the trouble
    Wandering around randomly
Giving out obvious information if it wasn't obvious enough
Repeating the same lines over and over again

    Default You are looking down

The problem with tracking enemies by their footprints is you are looking down and don't see what is waiting for you on the ceiling.

You ignore the fact that you're leaving foot prints as well...
