Hello,
many of the old spell descriptions / tooltips contain a lot of information which enable me, as a non-mechanics, non-math guy, enable me to understand and place them into the existing system of spells.
Like, for example, the information, to which school the spell belongs to.
Newer and changed spell descriptions, especially those from the Feywild Illusuionist tree, lack many of these informations. They often lack´the information, for example, to which school they belong.
Those who play this game for a long time, or know it very well from the pen & paper role playing rule, know which spells are what kind of spells, and to which school they belong.
Hence, this is a typical example of the "curse of knowledge" (see the Wikipedia article about that), which can be seen that information which is believed that "everybody knows it" is omitted, but Newbies just don't play the game long enough to know it.
Given the fact that DDO is an extremely math and mechanics heavy game, these informations are essential for pure Newies in understanding how everything works internally.
Except, of course, one is an action-rpg player is simply isn't interested in ANY kind of mechanics.
Well, overall, the spell descriptions / tooltips are very noticeably different from one another, if I look at older ones and at newer ones.
