Default Please Consider Changing the Way Anonymous Works

    Dear SSG

Please would you consider changing the way anonymous works. I play a cleric a lot of the time so, when I'm not anon, I get pestered to join groups/raids, even when I'm in a group and in the middle of a quest! When I want to join a group, I have to unclick anonymous then remember to put it back on when I'm finished. It would be really helpful if anon would stop you from showing on the who list (as it does now) but it shows who you are when you apply to a group and on the LFM panel.

I'm sure there will be people who will pipe up to ask "Why not just ignore the tells?" but I'm too polite for that so I 'have' to stop healing my reapers/raids to reply to them (then click anon back on!)

    Thanks!

Tell them they aren't worth healing and they need to gitgud to be worth your attention. It'll keep the tells to a minimum, and by then it's from people that you actually like.

Simply customize the /AFK command. You can be polite and still not answer.

/AFK Hi, I'm super busy healing a raid right now and will get back to you soon!

/afk Sorry I'm can't heal right now. I'm walking into spiderwebs. So leave a message and I'll call you back.

It has been a long time since I've received tells like this, and I understand the desire to be polite as well as the frustration of getting these while in the middle of a quest.

    A couple things.
    1. People are not looking for an immediate response - Come to a good stopping point if you feel you need to respond. If the person is not patient enough to wait for you to be at a safe stopping point that is a red flag for grouping.

    2. I believe you can click Anon after you have joined the group. Might be a good habit to unclick, join group, then reclick before you head to quest/raid

    3. Have you considered that after you click to Join, sending a tell to the PL letting him know who you are and that you are the Anon person requesting?

This is a good suggestion if you feel you need to respond right away. It gives good feedback to the person to know there may be a delay for a response.

The very first thing I do is uncheck those "allow ... requests" things in the gameplay options.
"You are a Tiefling. And a Cleric, with the Domain of the Sun. Doesn't that contradict each other ?" "No, all my friends are playing evil. I found that so boring that I decided to be on the good side. And, besides, Sun and Fire, where is the difference, really ?"

You do not show up in the who or lfg and when you join a group only your level and class is displayed to the group leader.

the real problem your having is that anonymous offers you no protection against the friends list .. so chances are the people sending you tells have added you because you are playing a healer..

    * anyone can add you as a friend without your consent, knowledge etc
    * adding a friend does not add your character .. it adds a combination of your slot and account .. (so even you remove the character and recreate it, you will not be removed from their friends list, you will just show up with a new name)
    * your friends list is also server, account and slot based.. so if you transfer to a new server you will have a fresh list.. but if you transfer back to the server the list was created, all your friends will magically still be there.
    * the only way I know of actually getting off of someone’s friend list is to.
pick a new server, log in and create a new blank char with the same name
transfer to the new server, you will get a free name change credit and your chare will get a -1 after it
log into the new server with your old -1 char... /changename NEWNAME (something unique)
tr and transfer back to your own server .. (or wait the two weeks)

imo this raises a number of phi, gdpr and expected privacy issues one can assume when using an anonymous feature (in any game) so SSG really should fix this..

    People still play healers?

    People still need healers?
A little known fact - If you die in Ohio, you also die in real life. The same is true for many other U.S. States!
