Well most of it is fake, just like the keys in the quest. Painted on and fake jewels to exaggerate wealth.

Beware ! These are disguised oozes !

"You are a Tiefling. And a Cleric, with the Domain of the Sun. Doesn't that contradict each other ?" "No, all my friends are playing evil. I found that so boring that I decided to be on the good side. And, besides, Sun and Fire, where is the difference, really ?"

Disappointment disallowed. They very title says it's "clickbait".

It's not just the piles in the Black Loch - all of them are... underwhelming.

I don't know, I like that every once in a long while I get an augment from them. Usually just a first level diamond but hey last one I got was Diplomacy +5 and it was useful. I think it would be really awesome if there was a 5% chance of any of these coin piles anywhere in the game to turn into a coin ooze. But then I also like mimics... yes even in HC so I may not be normal. I also would prefer if their value scaled with quest level but that doesn't seem to be the case in my experience.

Cool, I didn't know they could drop augments. I get decent astral shards for selling the new level 1 augments like +1 spell pen, and +1 damage

The main hassle for me is I don't carry gem bags, so I have to clear out all the gems which are spread out on multiple tabs of my inventory after looting piles of gold.

I know this might be derailing this thread - but you have piqued my curiosity. Why don't you? The basic ones are free and immensely practical?

I never click the "Loot All" option. As per the wiki, there are 48 unique gem types, wc I would need 2 large Gem bags.

In Heroic to low Epics, I only loot Items with 2 augment slots, Essences, and Renown.
In High Epics, I will loot the 1 or 2 items and Ammunition to sell for Plat.

The other junk aside from Gems include Scrolls, Potions, Wands, Arrows, etc.
There is just often a lot of unlocked items in my inventory, so to constantly keep looting and selling items will take too much micromanagement.

Understood - clearly valid albeit totally different gamestyle from mine - I like to craft, disassembling everything I get to make the perfect item myself; useless named loot gets fed to sentient items... I sell gems and most potions, scrolls or wands to make up for item repair in one go at a vendor.

    Thank you for answering
