    Default Pure Fire Sorcerer First Life - quick review

    I've just returned to DDO with a group of friends and we're casually running through newbie content. My last contact with the game was in 2006/2007, so not relevant anymore. All are fresh accounts with no items/currency except what we find ourselves.

    For this character, I want to theme it as strictly as a fire-based glass cannon. I see that people tend to not do that (i.e. more Air etc.), but would really try to stick it out for "theme" reasons; it will never solo or raid and always have a dedicated tank/healer.

    I've gone through the Wiki and picked most stuff from the "Starting a sorcerer build", and read a lot of forum posts. The plan I came up with is this (I'm currently at level 6).

    I am aware that a first build is probably junk as far as you pro's are concerned, but would appreciate any comments if you see place for obvious improvements. Are there any huge milestones coming up in the next levels which I should be looking for?

    Human/Sorcerer
    10 INT, max CHA, rest into CON

    Spellcraft, Concentration, UMD

    Full Fire Savant (choices seem obvious so far)

    Maximize
    Empower
    Heighten
    Quicken
    Enlarge
    Spell Focus Evocation

    Spells currently:

    Burning Hands (SLA)
    Scorching Ray
    Scorch (SLA)
    Fireball
    Acid Spray for the pesky oozes
    Sonic Blast (I have it but almost never need it)
    Blur

    (I just got Scorch and Fireball and am trying to figure out a good rotation, was using Flaming Bolt and the additional spell-version of Burning Hands before)

    I've jotted down these spells as possible eventual candidates...

    Burning Hands

    Acid Spray
    Wall of Fire
    Meteor Swarm

    Blur
    Displacement
    Resist Energy
    Fire Shield
    Haste

    So far the char feels great to me in Elite dungeons and exactly what I want to play. Fireball still seems to use up a little to many spell points to regularly use, but I seem to manage the SP pool fine otherwise.

    It seems that you're doing just fine. Grab Knock for some utility, and DDoor later. You also need Shield, either as a spell, from scroll/wand, or EK SLA.

    One suggestion maybe. Imho Sonic Blast is an awesome spell.

    - breaks boxes
    - aoe, long range, can hit moving targets (homing)
    - no save to resist the damage, and rarely resisted element
    - will save to resist daze

    I like using it to 'pause the game' to get into a better position for heavier nuking. Often, you run into nice clusters of mobs that scatter away before you can mow them down. You can either fireball them from range (expensive option), or Sonic Blast + Scorch for half cost or less.
