Default Cannith Crafting a long broken system

So, I've been back to DDO for about 5 months now after a good 8 year break from the game. Before I left the game my main had gotten his CC up to about 225.

I remember way back when...when it was difficult to get your crafting up. The system seemed ...well WAY too hard to be useful. Now I'm back to playing and I see that it really is a broken system!

No new player, or any player who does not intend to do completionist is ever going to be able to use cannith crafting...especially now with some of the nice gear available in the higher levels ... 20+. There is NO WAY that anyone will get the materials required to not only level their CC up to something to be able to craft anything useful in one life, but if they somehow did manage to raise it high enough they would still be sorely lacking in a LOT of materials to actually craft anything.

By the time you get your crafting up to a high enough level AND accumulate enough materials to craft any items, you no longer want to craft anything because you've either leveled out of the range which CC is still useful or you've accumulated enough gear drops that there is no point to CC.

Can the devs maybe take a look into the Cannith Crafting system and maybe adjust it so that it doesn't take such an overwhelmingly insane amount of mats (and I include just plain Cannith Essences in this) to create the simplest things?

FYI...yes, I've seen the video tutorials on how to raise your CC up high really quick...but even those take 10's of thousands of cannith essences...a couple hundred thousand cannith essences wouldn't be out of the question for it.

If you after level 15 start to deconstruct items instead of selling them you will start to get cannith essences and in a couple of lives you can get 40K. This takes time but it can be done.

With some potions and 40K essences you should be able to raise it past 300 in one sitting.

I often find spots in my gear where i craft something i cant find or don't have. But i usually run the same build for some lives so i reuse the items.

There is also the option to have someone craft the shards for you. You can set up a lfm. You might need to have the collectables yourself as some of these are hard to come by.

    Just my 2 cents.

My Avatar and 4 other Characters now have Cannith Crafting at Level 376 or higher. In the past, it only took about 40,000 Cannith Essences, a Crafting Experience Potion, some Crafting Success Boosters, and a decent Crafting Experience Boost Weekend to reach that mark. Cannith Essences accumulate quickly in Epic Levels if one bothers to loot chests and crunch stuff. Of course, the less time invested in the game, the longer it takes to accumulate Cannith Essences.

I have noticed that Crafting Experience Boost Weekends are rather paltry of late. Instead of +100% or +50%, we keep getting +25% Crafting Experience Boost Weekends. That is not a big enough bump when using the easy to acquire Crafting Experience Potions and Crafting Success Boosters. Maybe 9 months ago, during one of my mini-returns, I tried to push another Character to Level 360 on a +25% Crafting Experience Boost Weekend and failed miserably. The original poster may have tried the same thing and run into the same problem. Without a gigantic Crafting Experience Boost, leveling Cannith Crafting gets really ugly.

As for Collectibles, they are all super easy to get. I used to have a thread bookmarked that lists the best places to gather each particular item. Maybe someone around here still has the link.

The only part of this that's true is that CC is a broken system, but not in the way you're describing.

    1. It shouldn't work the way it does at all. It's supposed to take Feats and use XP. And you're supposed to be able to craft just about anything that isn't an artifact.

    2. I'm still waiting on the promised system where I can strip paralyzing from weapon and put it on a different weapon.

    Default Cannith Crafting needs revamped

https://www.ddocrafting.info/cannith/ This use to be a great resource but is currently BO.

Grinding for the collectables sucks! Needs to be other options of acquiring i.e. Contracts, Vendor supply, etc...

End game crafting Items should have potential to rival any Raid / Named Gear (a "Legendary" - "Maxed out crafter" should have the potential of creating some incredible items).

watch this, guy leveling to 300 cannith crafting in 30 minutes without using exploits
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yt1UQcIFde8

the system is set up to take some effort, the main thing now is finding double slotted items, and even at that, it is really only good for twink gear, ie, level 1-28 or so. none of it can compete with lvl 29 named items.

for example, a level 20 cannith crafted belt with +9 constitution, +36 false life, +4 insightful constitution, slotted +20 vitality augment, and +1 exceptional constitution augment. your for sure will not find random loot that good, and I cant think of any named gear at that level that is better.
