Default Stop phasing out Underwater Action!

Once upon a time, you handed out free Water Breathing once in The Red Fens. It was a long underwater dungeon. I get it. Fine.
But more recently, you've made the pre-Sharn F2P quest give a free Water Breathing buff and then did it again for a short dungeon in the Feywild.

This is bad. Stop it. *Smacks on your hands.*

There's some core things in DDO you don't mess with.
Every character searches for and preps Feather Fall.
Every character searches for and preps Underwater Action.
It is ancient tradition. Don't phase these items out.
It is one of those things that helps keep Auction House alive.

Next time, put in some air vents or air bubbles that characters can stop and breathe from. Or make the water breathing buff last only a minute or two and needing to be refreshed from air bubbles.
Let players who aren't prepared eat lots and lots of cake, as you once made them do.

It's not about underwater breathing, it's about underwater combat. You can't fight underwater without the giant magic bubble.
Those are not pebbles surrounding the urn filled with Human teeth. They are megaliths!

There's no real need to make that enchantment an air bubble that lets you breathe on top of fighting. It's a high fantasy universe, the sky is the limit on rules.

We used to have lots of interesting mechanics in this game (like traps) but SSG have been slowly gutting their game of anything unique over a few complaints by new players who most likely dont even play this game anymore. In the future we probably wont even have stats on our characters.

I've seen that in another MMO. And I found it horrible. I call it "the NGE effect".
Named after the infamous NGE of Star Wars Galaxies (SWG).

In fact, the possibility to disarm traps was one of the reasons I came back to DDO ! I so missed that !

But a while ago I stumbled on something ... Was it possible at one point in the past to have a torch as a weapon ? Or was that in a different game ?
I have vague memories of using a lit torch both as a light source and as a weapon dealing fire damage ...

Anyway, underwater action is still necessary - there is that infamous quest in the Necropolis chain ... Not to mention that underwater treasure in 3 Barrel Cove ...
"You are a Tiefling. And a Cleric, with the Domain of the Sun. Doesn't that contradict each other ?" "No, all my friends are playing evil. I found that so boring that I decided to be on the good side. And, besides, Sun and Fire, where is the difference, really ?"

Was that in Neverwinter Nights? (The single-player game, not the MMO Neverwinter.)

ah yes—remember that hardcore thread for nerfing stuff into the ground? A big boooo on that one, I agree with you. E.g. Now Stopping the Sahuagin does not have that satisfying ice newbie killer; it only blows air and has a lifeshield lock kill-to-advance. Pffft.

You could if Freedom of Movement worked right.
