Default I think I know now why so few people play the iconic Shadar-kai ...

    Hello everyone.

Well, when trying to get a new Shadar-kai, I found that only very few hairstyless exist - and most of then look really ... not what peoiple are normally used to, I guess. To be frank : Most of them I'd just call "ugly".

I would REALLY give that Shadar-kai a new hair style - but NONE of the hair styles from the DDO Store can be applied to the Shadar-kai !

The result of these three constraints

    - few variation in Shadar-kai huair style in the first place
    - ugly hair styles
    - no possibility to replace them with different hair styles

is - at least to me - that the iconic Shadar-kai is an *highly* undsesireable Character to create.

So, my suggestion is simple : More hair styles for that Iconic ! Maybe just give them Shifter hair styles !

I think hairstyles are pretty low on why they're not played much. I mean, it's on the list no doubt. I just think they have some more pressing concerns to wrangle first. IMHO. YMMV.

I actually really like the mohawk with the big ponytail. Shadar-kai does have its issues though. I think the chain attacks were one of the big draws to Shadar-kai, and they haven't scaled well at all since the iconic came out.

Edit: There area also a lot of other races that have issues with the DDO Store hair styles. Aasimar and Shifters are ones I know for certain have issues. The hair styles you buy won't necessarily be the ones that show on the character when you use them. For Shifter in particular, the hair styles can clip into the character's forehead.

    Default worse than you think

Here's a fun one for you. On a recent life as a shadar kai, I found out that the cooldown on their only truly uniquely useful ability, "shadow jaunt", is linked to the dire charge cooldown. When you use jaunt it puts dire charge on that same cooldown. So dire charge's 12 sec cooldown now become 30, more than doubling it. I had the racial pts for the 30 sec upgrade, but I can only assume that the 1min version would put it on a 1min cooldown. If you use them as a melee class this makes them objectively worse than any other race in ddo.

Well, but this discussion is about the Shadar-kai hair styles - and that I don't like the 3 ? possibilities.

I just don't play ugly looking characters. Half-Orcs ? No way. Bladeforged ? No way. Buying the Warforged race was a mistake for me.

Even worse, I just saw in the picture of the "Developer Diaries" series, the one in which all 4 original Iconics can be seen, a hair style that was not among the offered ones in the character creation window.

But I think that this could be circumvented by using hats and bandanas (and helmets).

Yes, that’s what DDO needs, more hair-styles and other useless ****!

Same and currently playing one with HOT PINK hair. I wish they would make female versions of the warforged, dragonborn, & bladeforged. It's annoying enough getting called a "dude" all the time and those make it worse.

For sure, one of the options for Shadar-kai should be a cosmetic brown paper bag.

Default The reason Shadar Kai aren't played is?

    It's the underwhelming chain attack.

If our Shadar Kai could do the relatively high amount damage with it like the ones in Wheloon can, it would be more popular.

This^, in so many words, is how you say time and feedback on Lamannia are wasted.

    Sure, that would also help.
