Hey. This suggestion is for Miss Lynnabel, Lady of Loot.
Death Ward is obviously one of the most important defensive Wards a character can muster. Right now, players can get Death Ward from a number of sources. While you know these sources, I will list them here for other players.:
1) A given character can cast the spell. Obviously, this provides the best source of the spell.
2) Some Hires can cast the spell. Hires serve as an excellent source of Death Ward at the expense of Dungeon Scaling.
3) Potions of Death Ward drop from Daily Dice and very rarely in Treasure Chests. These potions are awesome.
4) Joe Candymaker sells Gloomy Potions of Death Ward during the Night Revels. These potions are awesome.
5) The Visor of the Flesh Render Guards, a Minimum Level 5 item, casts Death Ward for 7 minutes. This item is fairly easy to acquire. My 10 main characters all carry two or three.
6) The Rose Quartz Sigil Stone, a Minimum Level 9 item, casts Death Ward for 7 minutes. This item is fairly easy to acquire. One of my characters carries two.
7) The Legendary Rose Quartz Sigil Stone, a Minimum Level 29 item, casts Death Ward, Mass for 15 minutes, three times per rest. While an excellent item, the minimum level renders it useless for the vast majority of the game.
8) The Epic Dusk Heart, a Minimum Level 20 item, casts Death Ward, Mass for 15 minutes. While an excellent item, the associated crafting system makes it extremely difficult to manufacture, not for lack of trying.
Here is my frustration:
Getting rid of a Healing Hire represents one of the best ways to reduce Dungeon Scaling and gain access to the rewards of higher difficulties. However, higher level dungeons contain many monsters that use Inflict Wounds and Level Drain spells. Therefore, I find myself taking a Healing Hire for the sole purpose of casting long duration Death Ward. After the Hire casts the spell, I often dismiss him to reduce Dungeon Scaling. However, high level dungeons at higher difficulties take a lot longer, such that the spell wears off. At that point, I rely on my Death Ward Potions and Visors. Shrines allow me to refresh the Visors at the cost of losing all my Wards from Potions. Just like everyone else, I end up in a cycle of stopping to drink a bunch of potions and use a few "Clickies" every 5 minutes or so. Just like most people, Death Ward (and Shield) runs out in the middle of fights and I occasionally get zapped for letting that happen. This leads to ever greater vigilance keeping Death Ward (and Energy Resistance and Shield) up and that leads to rapidly using up my supply of Death Ward Potions.
Players in groups probably never feel this problem because someone in the group can cast the spell and groups clear dungeons quickly.
I want to extend the Death Ward refresh cycle beyond 7 minutes in high Heroic and low Epic dungeons. I do not want to summon a Hire just to cast Death Ward. Therefore, I am requesting a new, Minimum Level 15 (or 20) Death Ward "Clickie" for use in high Heroic and low Epic levels. In my experience, dungeons start to get really long around Level 10. Iconic go rounds begin at Level 15. Epic go rounds begin at Level 20. If you find merit in this suggestion, please make the duration as long as possible. Please use a piece of Clothing or Jewelry for the item, not an Armor, Shield, or Weapon. Please do not make the item Exclusive. Please make the item relatively easy to acquire.
I would also like to request a Minimum Level 15 Shield "Clickie" with the same specifications as above.
