Hi,
been soloing for years, I have a couple level 23s now.
I did a forum and youTube search and could not find a "how-to" on DDO grouping.
Anyone have any references for this?
Many thanks!

Hit O to bring up the social panel, click on the who tab, wait for the search button go from grey to red, then click on the grouping tab. Click join on any group in your level bracket the looks good to you or create your own LFM for any instance you want to run (under comments section when creating an LFM list difficulty & details like new to grouping or zerg or flower sniffing). Have fun =)
No fast travel, you'll have ride up to locations. As for voice chat, it is best to have to toggled on so you can hear if anyone says something I never talk in voice.
Some people don't like it when groups move fast and leave a trail of bodies so they want to slow roll and do all optionals/explore/etc. I personally do all my flower sniffing/exploring on each new quest solo and then go wild in groups but that's just me.
There's no fast travel option sadly, though I've seen it requested in a couple forum posts. Maybe someday. If you sorta know things like different public areas, that will help people guide you (some LFMs will say "know the way," but some will be happy to guide you verbally if they're mid-quest or physically with their character if they haven't stepped in yet).
Voice chat... not really in my experience, sometimes people use it, but more often than not people don't use it.
Flower sniffing is things like reading through all the text quest but also exploring every area of a quest. Many quests have quite a few areas you don't need to pass through to actually finish the quest, so basically flower sniffing is trying to learn the quest beyond just "how do I complete this quest for an end chest." Things like storyline, the map, etc. Often is something newer players will want to do or someone new to a quest may want to do, generally not something done by people who have run a quest a few times or many times.
if you know the quest fine
join any reaper zerg group
just follow them to end
get chest
get xp
repeat
thats basically ddo
if you want to talk to ppl join a guild
Kil Glory
30 alchemist
HOW
Sarlona
Teleportation
horses
several game 1 shot rewards like a 12 sided die will take you to market.
and a helm that is a 1 shot rechargeable teleportation.
you can get most places from the market there are door around the market to them.
gatekeepers grove from the harbor
Boots of speed (these are changing for some reason I cant find them 30% lower than level 16 anymore)
used to be 15 , 20 25.... now its 15 ,16 17 19............ which really sucks to be low level and not find the same speed boots while veteran players zerg ahead and level the new guys to fend for themselves in there wake.
I think the game has some attention now and the devs are trying to get people to quit to fix the lag issues.

Teleport spell is basically DDO's fast travel. In addition to guild ships.
If you're playing an arcane class (if free to play, that's either sorcerer or wizard) you may have access to teleport natively. If not, you can invest in the UMD skill and after you're high enough level you should be able to use teleport scrolls for fast travel.
To find out where quests are, ddowiki.com is the best resource for that.

Sad facts today versus say 7-10 years ago is the social aspect of DDO has very much been idle or dying unless your in a guild.
I still remember the days prior to MOTU expansion.
The grouping was hardcore and all over the place. With the dwindling of populations due to non-compliant evolution of DDO overall a lot of ppl have left or just retired for other reasons.
The LFG panel was filled to the brim with potential "clients" working their (lol)schemes. Literally you would have to announce "specific" party types(NO....zergs, nerfs, chain-gangs, no resurrects, etc)you wanted to group with and even then it was questionable what reared their "heads". Spamming seemed inevitable in those days and a TOXIC community became the norm.
One thing I always hated was the BIG sh*$ question on invite was....."hey man you want/need a guildship invite? or Do you have a ship??" It was a SHIP-BUFF fest and I always got tired of that aspect in retrospect.
I like soloing a lot and prefer it when the mainstream groups are hardcore to end when you accidently get a cheap kill and renders that 10% off the end XP reward. It happened to me a couple times and I got flagged and "INTOXICATED" from the flames....my response was always. "Dude it's just a game...and who the he#$ are you??" I've been playing AD&D/D&D tabletop since the late seventies!!! LOL
I want to believe ppl could just say wow we have a pretty close rep of tabletop D&D in digital form and be thankful. but ppl gonna be ppl sometimes!!
If someone has this item it will make your life easier but you will almost always have to run to the dungeon entrance.

airship captain is good for fast travel to airship port locations.
teleport towers are in different areas of the same locations.
teleportation scrolls and clickies
event clickys
key to the city of ES
learn the location of towers and airship stations.
for instance going to Inspired quarter is fast way of getting to the harbor from a teleportation tower.
