Time to redeem the Drow? Bring the Best D&D Goddess to DDO!

I think it's time to bring Eilistraee to the DDO pantheon!
She's like the only Drow Goddess that is good, and it'd be an opportunity to have Bastard swords as a favored weapon, have magic missles as a SLA, and maybe even a new weapon enchant that protects from rust/acid!

First I think we should make b swords, magic missiles, and favored weapons (outside fvs and kotc) actually worth using

Deities need a update overall too before we add new ones...I wouldn't want it where only "new" deities are worth following and the "old" ones just languish in uselessness

I'd like that, more deity options are always good.

Especially if it was combined with a Forgotten Realms drow racial variant, and maybe a small pass on the regular drow race (just let them have 36 point builds, their stat advantage isn't nearly as relevant anymore now that races like Dragonborn or Tiefling exist that have almost as good stat spreads but also crazy strong racial trees).

Yeah that's why I brought her up cause I love mm and bastard swords, they're just sadly so inefficient in comparison to the alternatives. Give me my bastard sword love! un nerf my mm spammer XD!

Elistraee (The Dark Maiden)

Elistraee is the goddess of the good drow. She is the Matron goddess of all the drow that wish to return to the surface. Her trademarks are song and beauty. Not much is known about Elistraee except that she is quick to anger over the evil that most drow do.


Elistraee will more likely lend aid to a creature she favors intead of appear personally. She will grant favors, small ones, that give the the most practical answers. If the situation warrants her appearance she usually will appear as a tall drow female with long glowing hair down to her ankles.


The clergy of Elistraee are female from any race. These preistesses much further the cause of beauty and song. They must always carry one of their godesses favored instuments, the horn, flute, or harp. Their lot in life is to pursuade drow to return to the surface world and work to improve surface relations.

I'd love for Eilistraee to be in DDO. It could be a great way to bring in Forgotten Realms Drow as a racial variant (or would it need to be an iconic hero?). It'd be pretty cool to have an item like a symbol of Eilistraee that works like the Tiefling Scoundrel fiddle where instead of the lute animation your character dances when you play Bard songs.

What does this have to do with the Drow in DDO?

Adding player interactions with Llolth was stupid mistake, and making her a Pan-dimensional deity isn't supported in any of the existing lore, shoehorned in with some plot about co-opting the Lords of Dust. How would another drow diety from Faerun gain sufficient power in Ebberon to be able to grant divine investiture to drow in DDO?

This game needs less of the Forgettable Realms, with it's generic European medieval fantasy setting where players are only ever secondary to the NPCs who get to be the real heroes.

Tiamat originates in Mesopotamian mythology, rather than a TSR copyright. To have her show up in both FR an Ebberon (As well as a score of other products since 1975) just means that the idea of a public domain 5-headed dragon queen/god carries a lot of narrative weight in a game who's name consists of just under 50% dragons. That's not a crossover, that's an archetype that's older than Christianity.

If there's no more Forgotten Realms added to DDO ever again I'll be perfectly ok. This applies to FR drow in particular since they are the dumping ground for Ed Greenwood's (and many others') sexual fantasies. I'll rather take some classic adventure or more Eberron any day, thanks.

Meh @ more drow. We've already had two expansions in Forgotten Realms, one featuring the drow. We've also had somewhat recent drow content with the House J/Vulkoor tie-in. There's more appetite and excitement for places we haven't yet been.
