    Post Barbarian build request

Hello, I'm a returning player from 2016, and am looking to gain barbarian PL.
This would be for my main toon (has most PL except for alchemist, most +5 tomes) and alt 1st arti lifer(w/+2 int tome)

    Goals:
    1) Attain barbarian PL. Bonus if toon is viable to lvl 30, for an epic PL
    2) Concerned about healing/traps/durability. So willing to multi-class cleric/rogue, etc.. for trapping/self-healing
    3) Survivable with reaper 1-3. Get decent reaper xp in process
    4) Attain 5000 favor for +5 tome

    Resources:
    1) Have all packs/expPacks up to 2016. Don't have recent packs, except for recent sales of Slave Lords, Ravenloft, and Sharn (don't have other recents, e.g. feywild, whiteplume, etc..)
    2) Can be played with regular qst equip, I don't do much epic raid (except for occasional epic tempest spine, epic GH)
    3) Have access to most races. Don't have: elf:khorvaire/wood, gnome, shifter
    4) Will not be playing in static group. Will be playing mostly in LFM. Sometimes solo; if solo, then with panther/owlbear pets, platinum bought hirelings on elite or r1
    5) Does not have tomes that give extra racial/enhancement tree points. Does not have shifter enhancement tree.
    6) Toons currently have ~12-15 reaper points each

    Misc:
    1) Prefer not to play iconics
    2) Multi-classing ok, as long as bbn PL
    3) Appreciate build w/info for each lvl, and what general eq I can easily farm/craft(cannith or slave lords) now w/my lvl 30, for barbarian at lvls 5, 10, 15, 20, 25.
    4) Concerned about ranged. Am open to inquisitor range build and/or use of falconry/vistani enhancement tree(s).
    5) Fun to play!

    Thanks.

I guess a key would be to know if you want to play it as a barbarian, or basically just have the barb be the minimum needed for the PL. Because:

    1. Barbarian's strongest feature is Rage and
    2. Rage blocks spell casting (Cleric's healing spells) and Int-based skills (Search, Disable Device for the trapping)

I just go full 20 Barb, use Ravager as primary and splash the other two enhancement trees, use Blood Tribute esp at lower levels (there aren't many traps in the game that that can't absorb), heal a lot with Blood Strength, and in epics (if you do epics) twist Consecration/Sacred Ground which are not blocked by Rage (as Cocoon is), and which get pumped quite well with all the healing amp from the Barb enhancements.

I agree the 20 Barb is an option.

    Just a couple notes:

If you are at least 2 Levels of Cleric and take the Destruction Domain you can cast cleric spells while raged
If you go with druid there is a Tier 4 enhancement of Nature's Protector allows you to cast while raged

The Bear Barbarian build would be one to look at if you are interested in that style of play - it is more playing a Druid like a barbarian then a Barbarian like a druid.

Ah, I felt like I must be missing something that Cleric would come up at all. I definitely know Barbarians better than Clerics, which are probably my least favorite class to play (no, probably 2nd least, after Monk)

EDIT: and it looks like Domains appeared about a month before I left the game in 2017, and I haven't played a minute of Cleric since, so that was a big hole I was missing. Sorry about that! Maybe if I played Clerics with Domains I might like them better than I did prior.

For some healing as a Pure Barbarian you have two routes (you can take both). T5 Frenzied Berserker (or T5 Ravager) plus Aasimar Healing Hands (max 7 charges, 1 recharges every 3 mins, WIS based healing). Aasimar Tree provides Healing Amplification as do all 3 Barbarian trees though Ravager and Occult Slayer cores provide a lot more than FB.

If you also had the Falconry Tree (as well as the Aasimar race) you could build a wisdom-based Barbarian: my preference would be 41 AP into FB, 7 into Aasimar (for the 5 cores), 4 AP into OS (for Extended Rage) and 28 into Falconry (for all T4's except Blindness Immunity). FYI, I always try and spend 16 or 18 AP into Aasimar when I can in order to get Ascension Bond Fallen (+10 melee/ranged power and Vulnerability) and 40 or 60 Healing Amp, but that wouldn't be possible for your barbarian with Falconry.

It's possible with 80 AP to go 16 aasimar / 41 FB / 23 Falconry (T4: Expose Weakness, 2/3 Deadly Instinct), though having at least 1 racial / universal AP is preferred to max out Deadly Instinct.
If you want at least 28 points in Falconry, might as well go up to 31 for +1 stat and Well Rounded II.

With (relatively) recent THF changes (strikethrough), I recommend ditching cleaves (both feats and enhancements, i.e. supreme cleave & tantrum, though supreme might be useful in heroics), and definitely max all strikethrough enhancements (Angry Arms, Mad Munition, Focus Wide). With +400% strikethrough you can hit up to 5 targets for full damage (or stun/trip 5 targets with Stunning Blow/Trip, if STR based). This is a strong argument towards STR-based build.

Fury of the Wild is best THF destiny now.

Pure barbarian, occult slayer. Levels 2-12 blood tribute means you'll stay alive no matter what healing comes your way. Once you hit 12, one with spirit will heal you to full even on reaper mode. In epic, capstone makes you immune to CC spells and beholders. Blood tribute falls off drastically but that's ok, you can either go crusader if you solo a lot or simply grab the healing from the frenzy and in combination with one spirit you'll be more than fine even on r1.
Bought my first dungeon master's guide in 1992. My favourite part of ddo is coffee and slayers

I've been looking at what to do for my final Barb life. Currently running a mech/arti package to get my second one (essentially ignoring the back-loaded barb levels), but I think I'll get bored of the play-style if I run it for another life. Taking cleric levels sounds intriguing to me, especially taking Sylvanus as faith choice with a couple of extra fighter levels to fill in feats and improve tactics.

Also with this build I can get a PDK past life and skip most of heroics as I've just done them. Don't want to have to buy hearts to remove fighter levels so the class split is pretty much set in stone, but I'm flexible as to whether I should drop the extra cleric (for level 4 spells: divine power, fom, cure critical and restor/panacea/whatever are very nice conveniences) and 2 fighter to get 12 barb for level 12 cores and greater rage.

Enhancements would be Tier 5 Occult slayer, tier 3 Ravager for Extra strikethrough then I'm not sure after that. Just rolled one up to 15 on a PDK with no gear other than a quickly borrowed macabre maul from the bank and was regularly critting for 300+ on 2 - 3 opponents, getting stunning blow off occasionally (this would be pretty much no fail on my main). Should probably swap out combat expertise and improved trip for cleave/great cleave while levelling in heroic, as the strikethrough is not really adequate in heroics for big packs.

Also not sure about epic choices as I've not run any epic content in years. Would FoTW be mandatory in epics to take advantage of strikethrough? What other feat could I pick up at 24 other than toughness which seems pretty lame?

    Would appreciate any thoughts.
