    Default Update to Low-Level Augment Collectors

    These guys were designed a long time ago, when people were spending a lot more time in low-level quests...as a result, their prices are really high right now (50 of certain collectables) for a random augment, or Astral Shards to pick one.

    With the improvement of augments - which I think has been a general success, aside from the bugs - the way we acquire augments seems like a useful thing to revisit too. Could we tweak the prices on these to make them more approachable, especially for newer players? And could we change the Astral Shard price to Remnants, which seems like a more appropriate tier of "premium currency" for these type of rewards?

    You can already get low level augments with remnants in the hall of heros. The collectors are a seperate form of payment.. but if you want to spend remnants the option is already there.

    I do agree the number of collectables for an augment that is completely random is rather pricey but that's why i know you can get them for remnants in the hall of heros lol.

    The Remnant vendors dont have the same selection as the Collectable collectors

    The other alternative, of course, is to just put them all on the Remnant vendors, but it seems more interesting to breathe new life into the old collector NPCs rather than just put everything on a generic vendor.

    They should just move all the augments to the remnant vendors and eliminate the collectible vendors completely, since the collectibles are far more valuable when used for cannith crafting. The ridiculous price in collectibles for augments is nothing but a noob trap and really is bad for the game.

    That or move the collectable vendors for x collectibles for specific augment. That can't really be a large source of shards revenue, can it? And if anyone does use shards for that, I bet they still mostly will even if you could use collectibles.

    Yeah spending shards for augments is fine if someone wants that convenience. I just feel like the collectible lottery is a rip off.

    Yup, agreed the lottery for sure is. Just make it x collectables for y augment, like the shards are. No one likes a lottery like that, especially a highly priced one. But you can keep the selling of augment for collectible.

    Just out of curiosity what specific augment are you looking for.. because personally i've found the ones (that I deem important) you can't get with remnants are generally easily farmed from items using the legacy deslotter. I understand that's not the topic of the thread but in the mean time i'm willing to offer different options to get the ones you want if i can.

    Typically, I use the collectible/astral shard augment vendors to get UWA, FF, Blindness Immunity, and Fear Immunity. The price in shards is nearly always cheaper than the price in shards on the Astral Shard Exchange. On the other hand these are all very reasonably priced in DDO points too so YMMV. I use to also purchase Heavy Fort from one of them too but with RL armors at level 10, that's not nearly such an issue.

    Well Striding is what got me looking at it right now, since that's now 30% at ML8 and would be a huge QOL piece for any Heroic life, especially in a Slavers trinket or something, but you can only get it by random looting or from a Collectable/AS vendor.

    There probably should be a wiki page now with "named items with preslotted augs" now that that's a relevant category, if you want to get on that

    I pulled a granite gargoyle armor from redwillows and yanked the moderate fort gem from it for a level 4 character.

    I do not think any named gear has blindness or fear immunity as an augment.

    I would not slot UWA since it is a quick swap but FF is handy.

    Thank you. I have UWA slotted on a few various level spyglasses, 2x lvl 4 and an 8, and a 12 I think, and switching them between alternating playing characters works fine for me. Yes I could just have a whole bunch of water breathing pots or hold on to the ring from Korthos or what have you but several of my characters lack proper carrying capacity (gnome and halflings) and stacks of pots can get cumbersome. Sometimes its just more convenient to have a permanent switch in item that covers several bases at once. Since 2/3's of my characters have rogue skills too, the spyglasses have been very useful over the years.

    FYI I did just get two UWA augments from 2 Drowned Priest's Torches after the revamp, and a Moderate Fort from Roguebane Breastplate recently. I don't feel bad for spending a few astral shards or points for the few augments that are useful to all my characters. I'm more concerned for the Named Augments sold on the ASAH for guano-crazy-prices. Some? of them are only available in raids, and some just have such a ridiculously low drop rate. I wished the Named Augments after a few years were available in more than just a single location. I mean they told us grinding the same quests over and over caused burn out but apparently that statement carried a bunch of exceptions and provisos.

    I'd like to see Named Augments have at least three locations they can drop after they've been in the game 3+ years. For instance Topaz of Anthem only drops in Precious Cargo, sort of odd since the quest has nothing to do with bards, but I think it would make sense for it to also drop in Legendary Same Old Song, and Legendary Rosemary's Ballad both quests that feature music in the storyline. An argument could be made for Immortality Lessons too but it already has Named Augments.

    see im with ya.. i dont see FF or UWA as a good use of a slot.. id rather put both on a swap in item personally.. so that's probably why i don't have an issue getting the augments i want as you pointed out heavy fort is easy farm to take off of an item and the rest I personally use are already for sale.
    (bubble belt with a FF augment is the ultimate utility item because you can even throw waterbreathing for those newbs you have join the pug lol. But a Mantle of descent with a UWA item can cover it at a lower level. Personally i dont mind having 2 diff items for it though and both are easy to find so i've never seen the need to use a slot on them)

    Edit: There was a list here on the forums on preslotted augments for easy farming can't seem to locate it now but the only thing i made mental notes of was HF and insightful stats don't remember seeing UWA or FF on the list at all.

    I didn't think of the Mantle of Descent... but isn't that a blue slot?

    And I don't slot UWA on an always on item, I slot it on my Spyglasses which I switch on for traps, and also UWA, sometimes for True Seeing on alts that can't cast it. Serves several purposes in one slot, gets a lot of use.

    As I said above you can now get UWA from the Drowned Priest's Torch with an Unslotter. I don't know anywhere FF is available by that means. I put FF on several pairs of named boots at various level breaks. I like to have it always on... I'm the doofus that forgets about it and goes diving off a cliffside thinking I'm fine.

    Yes but why? I've only ever seen ppl delete their own post when they misspoke or misunderstood something they had responded to or were baited or otherwise responded in a way in which they later thought inappropriate or just not worth it.

    I wondered if it was something I said because he responded to my post and I responded to him, then he deleted his next post. ? I reread my post. I wasn't trying to be impolite or disagreeable and only stating what works for me and a wish for named augments to be a little more widely available.
