    Default Removing the Tin-Foil Hat

So, SSG announced they were NOT going to do another 2-year "Season Pass".

Feywild is an expansion in name only, obviously rushed out well before finished. Important trivial-to-fix bugs left to crawl all over the game.

In-game help shutdown due to bugs (opening help window does nothing) -- can't file tickets about augment issues as recommended by SSG.

Is SSG planning to drop DDO? "Hmm, can't Season Pass then close the game -- we'd have to give money back. Hey, let's push the expansion! We won't need to refund that. What? We don't care that it's not ready."

And this really needs Antoinette voicing, "LET THEM FILE TICKETS!"

(ok, tin-foil hat back on, sanity restored)

If they were going to drop DDO, they certainly wouldn't be talking about raising the level cap, especially raising it in stages over the next couple of years.

BTW, you CAN file in-game tickets. Just click around that window that appears to be dark. Near the bottom of the window works best.

Do you really think they would have tens of people working on new content for DDO and spend a lot of money on it if they where planning to close it down? Dont be ridiculous.

If you're just wearing the hat, you're doing it wrong.

What did the season pass holders get content wise anyway?

Here's a link: Tin Foil Hat.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Don't actually get a hat. Get 2yrs VIP for the price of 3yrs and and some fluff. It's actually a horrible deal unless you very badly want something that only comes from gold dice.

I wouldn't read too much into the season pass - they just gave everyone all the content for free which changes the value proposition. If anything they might provide a new tier of VIP to keep and maybe even improve on their subscription revenue.

I like the expansion - really looking forward to the raids. I especially like the "chase" feytwisted chests - reminds me of planar chaos in magic the gathering. Am really enjoying the most recent raids compared to sharn - much easier to find groups.

Is it that time of year again?

Game is closing threads usually pop up a couple times a year, EVERY year. Must be that time again.

This has been going on for a decade.

I agree that the feywild release has been rushed and that the content is too low for an expansion, but I doubt it is because the devs are ready to close the game. Rather, I think it was a commercial decision, because by taking it out on the dates it was released, people spend money on the game in the xpack, Black Friday and Christmas, and if they postponed it, the xpack would have competed in spending with black friday or christmas. To get a similar return, they would have had to wait at least until February for the release.

The quests however are of quality. Too bad the content was sparse and so rushed.

Season pass was originally implemented by day break games, SSG is part of that so..........

As for your tin foil, save it for 2021, you're going to need it.

The season pass was nothing more than a cash infusion to fund Sharn. They bet on Sharn vs spreading out the money over 2 years. 2 years is a long bet that may not of paid out. 30 g's now to turn a high risk high profit or maybe 20g's over 2 years that is low risk low return. You don't need a MBA to figure that out.

Speaking as one, not much looking back on it. I don't have Buyer's Remorse, I bought it more to support a hobby I love with some unexpected cash that came in at the right time, but I do feel like a more educated consumer moving forward - and likely would not repeat buy even if it were offered again.

Also bought in. For me, the main thing I got from it was less 'stress' making sure my Gold rolls stayed on a weekend. Looking back, I realize I didn't make that many more rolls across the board, but knew that when i logged in to one of my off-main batches of alts, they'd have a Gold there ready. I'll miss that, and would buy it again mainly for that^.

And other stuff was okay. I'd have spent the VIP $ anyway.

Do you have proof of that? From what they just released, it appears they've only got 2 quasi-devs, a parrot and some crazy old lady renting out the back room yelling at them to keep the racket down.

If you follow these forums for some time then you will see how many developers that are working on DDO.

In 2018 SSG had 40 employees and a turnover of $20,7 million. We know they have hired more people since then.

    LOL!!!

Well, you'd think that as a business entity, they'd at least try to act like it thru the products they release. As it is, they make it look like it's run out of a garage half-occupied by an '87 Volvo wagon.

Edit: Oh, and exactly how is that 40 employee figure broken down?

Your forum name should be TwerpTwerply. Just sayin'

If you hate SSG and this game so much, why are you posting?

I won't respond with what your forum name should be changed to, and I won't even respond with how much I've spent on this game in 2020 alone, but it's got at least 4 digits to it. Heh! I probably broke that barrier a second time just from buying things for other players just so they could keep up with my level of stupid. (Btw, HUGE fail at discontinuing ddo point code purchases at the ddo market)

Like I've said before, I'm a daily player that absolutely LOVES DDO, and I want it around for a long time to come. I simply can't say the same things about anybody at SSG.

I think there's a tin foil hat in the DDO store, isn't it ?
Edit : I see now, it's from the Anniversary Party.

"You are a Tiefling. And a Cleric, with the Domain of the Sun. Doesn't that contradict each other ?" "No, all my friends are playing evil. I found that so boring that I decided to be on the good side. And, besides, Sun and Fire, where is the difference, really ?"
