Heroic gear

Hi I'm a casuaL player. My Dwarf at level 13 now and wondering if it's time to replace the Carnifex. I have all content except Ravenloft/Sharn. Also, are there any Barbarian-friendly sets I should target? Haven't decided on whether to reincarnate at 20 or 30, so mostly looking at heroic gear. Thanks

I love the Falchion from the Madness end quest, but that's such an annoying and tedious and painful quest to run that I'd only bother farming for the Heroic version at cap and I'd only look at farming the Epic version on R1 with a good group who were willing to pass the Falchion to me when it drops so we didn't have to run it too many times.

That really is an awful quest.

Uhhh hard to say I mostly use ravenloft gear at 10 and then sharn at 15 lol. Found this in my bank the other day though, might be pretty good for someone without expansions.

These are good heroic THF weapons, in the order of best to worst, and incidentally, hardest to easiest to get.

Carnifex is not that great nowdays even on its ml. Better to be using any random gen vorpal gear specially on your actual level while you farm any of magaiti's linked weapons.

Toxic Treatment is hot garbage, but it has really nice named loot.

You can use baravoia's weapons while you farm those or ignore the farming as you will be very well served with baravia weapons but carnifex is not that great nowdays even on its ml. Better to be using any random gen vorpal gear specially on your actual level.

OP doesn't have Ravenloft.

Carnifex vs Vorpal depends on how much damage you can deal per swing. Vorpal only kills if mob has 1000 or less hp, and Carnifex on a competent build can deal that amount of damage faster than you roll a 20.

Yeah. Noticed that later and fixed. I doubt a bit about crit profiles on heroics as I do about carnifex and heroic SoS. Without atk speed/doublestrike and crit profile improvments achived only on EDs and the lvl 12+ class enhancment you are usually better of with plane damage bonus with extra weapon dices and on hit effects. In carnifex case you may have improved critical at this point already what halves the carnifex benefit. 1k is alot for heroics up to low reaper as it also gives the weapon some extra dmg dice.

Whirlwind from the desert is a pretty solid one with the double threat range of SoS, though still has the standard x2 multiplier. Shining devastation at ml14 is an absolute beast that's often overlooked since it comes from litany of the dead so good luck actually pulling the thing, though you might get lucky on the auction house. Echo of blackrazor is pretty decent again now with the augment change since it has 2 slots & you can put 2x 3d6 damage augments in there without changing the minimum level & has the advantage of being immune to ooze & rust.

Generally speaking NOTHING beats sword of shadows but getting it can be quite difficult.

Since you are a dwarf though I would suggest you farm the riftmaker. It's the only heroic two handed weapon in the game with a x4 multiplier and it's an axe if you are using dwarf enhancements. The tail of the scorpion is overall a better weapon but as a barbarian you're going to destroy everything anyway and if you are occult you have metalline already going for you. The coolest weapon however is angravele! It looks the prettiest and has the coolest graphic when the proc occurs.

Really great suggestions! Almost 20 so I may heroic reincarnate into Human so I don't feel pressure to stick with axes (in my eyes a dwarf should have an axe or hammer). Will start working on stocking up the alternatives now

Leveling has been slow due to too many characters -do have Raven loft now though.
