    Default The Mystic Knight - 12 Wizard/5 Rogue/3 Monk

Hi all! I'm back with a build concept that I've been playing around with that's more of a personal flavor build than optimal. I love eldritch knight builds and I've been wanting to play a q-staff build for a while and with the new spear from Legendary Lord of Blades, I wanted something to play around with. I am running this build as a first life toon, and so far it has been very enjoyable in the early levels. I'm hoping to get a nice staff between now and level 15 when I pick up Moonbeam from Sharn.

    Build:
    Tiefling - 12 Wizard/5 Rogue/3 Monk

    Stats (32 pt):
16 Strength (+1 Level-Up at 4; if you have a tome this is absolutely not necessary. You need 17 Strength by level 12 only.)
16 Dexterity (All or Remaining Level-Ups)
    14 Constitution
14 Intelligence (13 required for Combat Expertise)
    8 Wisdom
    10 Charisma

With 34 and 36 point builds or better races I'd invest more into dexterity. Intelligence is also a good stat to have for trap skills and spellcraft which helps in our damage from eldritch knight.

    Leveling:
    1 Rogue (Dodge)
    2 Monk (Mobility)
3 Wizard (Two Handed Fighting; Eschew Materials)
    4 Monk (Combat Expertise)
    5 Wizard
    6 Wizard (Spring Attack)
    7 Wizard
    8 Monk (Fists of Light)
    9 Rogue (Whirlwind Attack)
    10 Wizard (Extend Spell)
    11 Wizard
12 Rogue (Improved Two Handed Fighting)
    13 Wizard
    14 Wizard
    15 Wizard (Adept of Forms)
    16 Wizard (Quicken Spell)
    17 Wizard
    18 Wizard (IC: Bludgeoning)
    19 Rogue
    20 Rogue

    Epic Feats:
    21 Greater Two Handed Fighting
    24 Overwhelming Critical
    26 Perfect Two Handed Fighting
    27 Master of Forms
    28 Elusive Target
    29 Arcane Warrior
    30 Blinding Speed
Legendary Feat: Astral Plane or Limbo

    Enhancements (80 AP):

As I'm drafting enhancements I noticed that Quick Strike in the Henshin Mystic Tree is only 1 AP per rank for 3AP total, while Quick Strike that opens the active line in Thief Acrobat is 2 AP per rank for 6 AP total. I will be updating enhancements at a later date due to this.

My current breakdowns are as follows:
    36 AP - Eldritch Knight
    35 AP - Thief Acrobat
    7 AP - Henshin Mystic
    2 AP - Floating (Tiefling 1 and Shintao 1)

    What I'm currently testing:
    - Tier 5 EK v Tier 5 TA (With needing to spend about 40 AP in Thief-Acrobat as it is, I may decide to utilize the Tier 5 in that tree)
    - Fire Stance v Wind Stance (I like fire for the +1 Crit Multiplier on 19-20, but Wind Stance for doublestrike, attack speed, and +3 Dexterity on a dex build feels nice. Since I'm not taking Grandmaster of Forms with the +3 stat boost I may also be inclined to drop 2 AP from a tree for dex and put it to something else)
    - Whirlwind Attack v Cleave Line (I am leveling with the cleave line and plan on LR'ing around level 12 and comparing how they feel)
    - Destiny Preference (There are a lot of different paths to consider for this build)
    - DPS of Spellsword gear set versus standard THF DPS gearset

    Weapons of Note:
    Legendary Moonbeam (Best Laid Plans)
Spear of the Mournlands (Legendary Lord of Blades)
*Good late game quarterstaves seem few and far between. I am going to be committing a good amount of time to fleshing out this build on live to test a lot, stay tuned!

**NOTE** This build is in the beginning stages of theorycrafting and is subject to significant changes as I play through it and updates will be coming shortly.

GTHF requires BAB 11. Your build doesn't hit that before level 21.

Rogue and monk are medium BAB classes but they don't stack for the purposes of calculating BAB. I.e., rogue 8 or monk 8 has BAB 6, but rogue 5 / monk 3 has only BAB 5.
    36 AP - Eldritch Knight
    35 AP - Thief Acrobat
    7 AP - Henshin Mystic
    2 AP - Floating (Tiefling 1 and Shintao 1)
No Pale Master? What will you do for self-healing?

As stated it's very early theorycrafting and the feats placed currently are temporary placement and not fully oriented. I will be putting adept in heroics, moving OC to 24 and GTHF at 21. I am currently leveling the cleave line and the feats I wanted were a development of earlier in the morning, updates and edits coming over the next few days.

This is an eldritch knight build because I want to play as an Eldritch Knight. Thanks for the other feedback.

I would dump dex, max out Int, take Int hit/dg in Harper so you can get the trance, and a chance to have some CC DCs to work if you aren't playing too high into Reaper

Int build is definitely viable and an option, but I prefer dex. Thief acrobat is specifically designed around dex so I get free dex to hit/dmg without spending AP elsewhere, and I can't invest in int through that tree either. That being said Int is something I was toying with, but I've always liked dex builds better.

I'm not sure which DCs you mean in this case. If you mean spells I'm not using offensive cc spells. If you mean trips etc, KtA is good for boosting them, but even the TA trips are based off of dexterity.
