Default Paid for account retrieval but my account is still locked

Long story short... my account was suspended about 8 years ago. It was an agreement between myself and DDO because DDO really ****ed me off and DDO's attempt to rectify things only made it worse. So I demanded a refund of my recent (recent 8 years ago) purchases which included the new upcoming expansion at the time and a bunch of DDO points. Eventually DDO agreed to my refund but told me if I wanted the refund they would have to permanently suspend my account because they couldnt' remove the content from my account. I agreed.

Fast forward 8 years ... to nearly 3 months ago when I submitted a ticket asking if I could retrieve my account. After 10-11 weeks without a response to my request I finally received an answer... I was given a link to a page to make a payment (which was to repay the refund I was given 8 years ago) and once I made the payment I was to reply to the email and let them know the payment was made and my account would be re-activated.

Well, I made that payment on the 6th of this month, over 10 days ago... and I still do not have my account back and no one has even bothered to respond to any of my queries into why it's taking so long to give me the content I paid for?

Can someone from DDO please respond to me... I can give you the help request # with which you will see the full details.

    Thumbs down

Well... we are coming up on 1 week since I made this post and it's been over 2 weeks since I made my payment for this game and I still have not received a reply of any kind, nor is there any indication that anyone from DDO has even bothered to take note and I still don't have my account back.

This situation is really no different than if I were to purchase a game on Steam and 2 weeks later I still don't have the game!!

This really is unacceptable. The 10 week wait I had to get a reply to my initial request I can handle...even though that is WAY too long as well, but you know what, I gave that to you because there are a lot of valid reasons why it could have taken so long (though why I couldn't even get a simple update to say something like "hey, we have seen your request and are looking into it, but it could take a while" is beyond me). But this situation is different. I paid real money for a product!

What company (what honest company) would think it's ok to take someones' money and then not give them what they paid for and not even respond to their queries or even acknowledge the issue? If your company is so very short staffed that it takes 2 months to answer every single request then your company is doing something VERY wrong!

You paid for something years ago, then complained and got a refund and had your account banned because there was no way to remove the content then years later paid the money back and want the account restored. When you buy a game on Steam none of those things happen. So really, they are totally different.

Note that this post has nothing to do with how long it's taking, it has to do with your analogy which was completely incorrect.

I'm sincerely suprised. If you came back 3 months ago there was code will all quests for free as well as two expansions basically for free (99 points). No idea how much they told you to pay, but it would be much cheaper to just make new account, especially since 99% of items you could have 8 years ago are now just total junk and majority of grind systems was not here yet, so probably you would not lose much progress.

PS: i know it's pretty much offtopic and i know contacting support might take ages and it's not cool, but i really, really don't get why you just didnt made new account, even if it's "just in case", cause now you'll have to pay for all packs released since 2012.

    At least once a day.

I do have another new account I created just to see what the game was like now...and I can log in and access the game with that account. But with my old account I log in successfully but when I choose a server and try logging into a server (any server) I get an error code...

"Failed to queue for server. (0x80004005)" ... which I assume means "you account has been suspended

I understand what you are saying and that it's not about my issue here...that's fine, I don't have a problem with any of it...but I completely disagree with you thinking it's totally different. I paid for a game. I did not get what I paid for (not yet anyway...16 days now and counting). The fact that my account which I'm trying to retrieve was created years ago really has no bearing on the issue. In fact if you want to look at it the way you described it for this argument (not that you are arguing here... argument as discussion) then when I received my refund 8 years back it's essentially putting the situation back to it's original state of not having paid for anything and not having a product, so that fast forward to today I'm now paying for content I previously did not have.

Bottom line...if this were a legal matter (not saying I would take this to court or anything...especially since I have faith that I will eventually get my account), I am sure the legal system would see no difference in paying for a "new" product or paying for an "old" product that was taken away previously.

I don't recall how much I was refunded 8 years ago, but I do believe it was more than what I just paid them last week. So I believe they didn't charge me as much, possibly because most of the content is free now. It may be that what I paid for last week was basically the DDO points I have bought and had refunded as part of my refund.

I did make a new account, but I made it knowing I would not want to play it. I'm not sure if you can understand the attachment some people get to their characters. I had 2 main characters (well 3 really)...plus a bunch of other characters. But I had my main character ...a kick ass...for the time... Monk and my secondary character (well call him 1B) who I was in the process of doing the completionist on(once I had completed the completionist with him he was going to become a Monk and take over as my main while my Monk then started completionist as well)...sure he wasn't that far in...only, I think 4 TR's into it. Then I had my 3rd character a Rogue which was quickly catching up to my main. All 3 of those characters were heavily played and loved. I also had 4-5 other characters that eventually I would have maxed out as well.

I put in a lot of time, effort and energy into them. So I am too attached to them.

As for the code ( DDOfreequests ...is that the code?)... I hope it still works when I do finally get my account back.

Edit: I had to edit my post because I said "I don't recall how much I was refunded 8 years ago, but I do believe it was LESS than what I just paid them last week." ...when I meant to say MORE

So, I finally got my account back. It came back sometime in the past few hours.

    Thank you DDO
