BUG: Deadly Exploits in Ninja Spy Currently Bugged

Hi all,

I've always been really intrigued by the idea of Dark monk, and Ninja Spy because of the synergies they have there. I rolled up a Ninja Spy on Lammania today, because I'd previously heard that the tree wasn't very good, and I wanted to see for myself.

After some tinkering, I noticed something odd: when I took ranks of 'Deadly Exploits', a Tier 4 ability in the tree, the 'Poison Exploit' toggle stopped working. Here are some screenshots:





This behavior persisted whether I turned off the Touch of Despair Toggle in between when I picked up the enhancement, switching to a different one and then back to Poison Exploit, even restarting the game. It also happens whenever you take any ranks of Deadly Exploits, seemingly unaffected by how many ranks are taken.

Using the Touch of Despair finisher with Poison Exploit (and trained ranks of Deadly Exploits) does reset the stacks of Ninja Poison to 0, but just doesn't do any damage.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this. I've already submitted a Bug Report, just posting it here to document the testing I did.

Go ahead and submit a bug for it I’ve tried the ninja tree And have submitted a few bugs myself there’s are a lot of bugs with it I found all the poison stuff to be not very effective and very high in AP cost. The dc for the little stun egg blows. Poison dart puke is a cool idea but just doesn’t have the dps. All the poison stuff needs to scale up with level and how much AP u put in this tree.

I think they need more boost to short swords and kamas in this tree at least add some alacrity or melee power when utilizing them. The capstone is WEAK by today’s standards.

Overall named Short swords and kamas are Few and far between and either weak or just funky. Would like to be able to get kukri s to work in this ninja tree too kind of like midnight greetings but full-time and with any kukris.

It’s a flavor build and I think I’m Bruce Lee when playing one.

Yeah, I already submitted the Bug report, hope they take a look. Even if they fix all the bugs in Ninja spy, it definitely needs a rework. I've had some plans to design a potential rework, but who knows if they'd take any of my advice haha.

But, the flavor on Ninja Spy is just so cool to me I wish that it rivalled, or even surpassed Shintao in terms of damage, even if it loses out on the cool CC and self-healing stuff.

I've been playing a Ninja/Vile Chemist/FvS (6/13/1). Started at level 1 as Aasimar and I'm currently level 26. And it's outstanding. Love it. Total dark monk/ninja feel.

But here's the bad stuff: t5 is terrible. Touch of Death is useless since it has horrible DCs. Crippling Strike? Please. Deadly Striker, however, is a must for +1 Critical Range, and Shadow Double is ok. Deadly Exploits rarely functions.

I didn't realize, however, it also bugged Poison Exploit so that both stop working. Thanks for the heads up! I've since deleted it.

So what's to love? The finishing moves are excellent. Good DCs, with better attack speed at higher levels they charge up fast. Freezing the Lifeblood (Water/Dark/Water) almost always lands, even on champs and non-boss red names, even in Epic R3 (I haven't tested higher than that).

Get yourself a couple envenomed blades (the epic version in particular), and go to town. Enormous CC, DoT damage, helpless damage, moderate DPS, excellent defenses, solid ranged. One of the most fun builds I've ever played. Also, in case it wasn't obvious, GoF is the only way to go for your destiny.

EDIT (9/17/20): I forgot to mention, the original reason I was attracted to this combination of classes, Ninja + VC specifically, is Ninja Poison's poison multiplier for all sources of poison. It seems like it's working, because as the fight goes on it does seem like my DPS builds. The guy I level with noted the same thing. Using examine as I fight reveals Ninja Poison is stacking up on regular mobs (if they survive very long) and bosses (I regularly get 20 stacks). However, I don't have numeric data to provide objective support to my subjective impressions.
