I'd like it to be more obvious. Change the name to GUILD potion. Change the Target: to just self only. I actually don't even know offhand if you can use guild potions such as cure light wounds on an undead enemy, if you can't, then remove the portion of the description that mentions saves and half damage ?
It’s mislabeled **** like this that probably made the devs think that they needed to completely screw up pots for everybody in the first place. Those guys obviously don’t play their own game enough to know what’s really going on, and are lazily just doing the absolute bare minimum in actual research. Their actions here prove that.
Seriously, this whole mess could’ve been avoided had they actually known how potions really worked, because they’d have realized that they didn’t even need lift a finger. Their laziness in research cost them needless work, and cost us major functionality in heavily used items.
Changing the name to "guild" potion is a reasonable request.
The rest of it is completely unreasonable. What you see is not the potion description but the equivalent spell the potion contains. The potion description is:
- Minimum level: 1
- Binds to Character on Acquire
- No Mail
- No Auction
- Spell name: Cure Light Wounds
- Caster level: 1
- Durability: 5/5
- Material: Glass
- Hardness: 0
- Base value: 2pp
- Weight: 0.10lbs
If you want something to change, the devs could remove the "misleading" spell description completely and just leave the above information in place. I don't think anyone wants that though. It's "corrupt a wish DDO style".
My main server is Khyber. Have toons in almost every server for favor purposes. The Faltouts
Gonna be honest, as a developer with years of experience myself, I'm struggling to imagine a design that caused this bug, and is somehow not also a trivial fix. To me it seems like you'd have a class member and a simple method that would check whether it could be used this way.
My question is, do we get an eta or just sometime in the future aka probably never?
Cheers,
Titus.

Today, while running Demon Sands, my hire, Lani Vesta, contracted Mummy Rot. To my great dismay, despite numerous attempts to apply Cure Disease (not Guild) and Remove Curse (not Guild) potions on Miss Vesta's very unsightly skin rash, I could not cure her affliction and her nose fell off. This prompted an emergency Airship visit so that Auntie could use her advanced healing skills and restore Miss Vesta's nose to factory new configuration.
During this harrowing ordeal, I repeatedly read the labels and safety application instructions on my potions. "Remove Cat Burglar Proof Safety Cap." Ha! Those House Jorasco potion makers cannot keep me out of a potion. No, they can not. "Break hermetic seal and extract application funnel." Okay. Easy peasy. "Apply small end of funnel to afflicted area and pour potion into large end of funnel." This is where things went south. I would apply the small end of the funnel to the afflicted area, pour the potion into the large end, and then the entire potion would go into my mouth. How can that even happen??? Over and over, I followed the instructions but every time the potion went into my mouth. Those things have some alcohol in them so I was starting to get drunk. Maybe if I Shift+Click while following the instruction? No. How about Control+Click? Nope. I know, I'll try Alt+Control+Shift+F10+Widows Key+Num Lock. That did not work.
Well color my black cat suit black and call me a black catsuit wearing cat burglar. These things do not seem to work as advertised.
So then I headed over to the Harbor and killed Hazadil for, like, the 347th time and forgot about my potion using woes. But then, somewhat later, I remembered again! What is up with these House Jorasco potions? Oh! I know! I'll ask the Insane Asylum inmates what I am doing wrong. Oh, oh! Better idea! I will use the search box and look to see if someone already asked the Insane Asylum the same question!
And here I am.

This stinks. Specially when playing with young family members, who always looked up to you as the problem solver. Daddy, help! -they cry. Sorry, sweetie, it's a halo change.
Yeah they totally understand.
Lovely yet disturbing journey. I feel for you.
I had hoped for a change in the upcoming update. But no luck. So I assume SSG will stuck with this solution. As bad as it is.
Cheers,
Titus.

I'll say it again: you already had 2 types, the usable-while-raged, and the usable-on-others.
You removed one option, which makes things strictly worse.
Just un-do this un-needed change, and go back the to perfectly acceptable situation we had before this change, with the 2 different types for 2 different situations.
Bump.
Eta on decision.
Cheers, Titus.

Maybe, maybe not. It's a perfectly sensible and acceptable solution for people who know about it, but until I came across this thread thx to TitusOvid's bumping, I never knew about this. There are probably plenty of things I don't know, but I'm far from new. There are probably plenty of others who also don't know about this distinction, especially with the apparently constant changes to potions (someone earlier in the thread showed that they've been switched back and forth like 3 or 4 round-trip times already). I have always avoided the guild consumables because of BTC so I can't trade them to other people if someone's low/out in a party.
I think that either way, we ultimately need to have the ability to use them both while raged and on others.
I never found an option to use a potion on others at all.
"You are a Tiefling. And a Cleric, with the Domain of the Sun. Doesn't that contradict each other ?" "No, all my friends are playing evil. I found that so boring that I decided to be on the good side. And, besides, Sun and Fire, where is the difference, really ?"
Precisely, this. It hasn't always been clear whether potions are (can be used on others) or (can be used while raging), and inevitably there are people who want potions that work one way to work the other way, and it's both unclear and prone to breaking. Reversing the recent changes does not fix that, just re-introduces the reasons it got changed in the first place. It's better for some and worse for others, when the best thing to do would be to fix the actual problem.
We have plans to adjust things so that they're consistent and clear, but they're not small plans, so we don't have a timetable to announce for it at this time - Just know that it's known and on our radar.
We don't only build for the builds that exist.
We don't only build for the builds that are good right now.
The fact that some changes are necessary is not diminished by the fact that other necessary changes have not happened yet.
Thanks for the update.
I don't suppose you can do an interim fix to just give a dialog option or something to allow completing the optional quest objectives for "cast X spell on NPC" where using the potion on them used to work? It's really not a huge deal (only remember I think 2 quests with this) but it was *REALLY* annoying when I first encountered it (it used to work and then suddenly no longer worked).
