Playing my first Warforged, and was surprised to see a Breath bar appear when underwater. So I stayed underwater and when the bar ran out I started to drown.

Are you in a toggled form that overwrites Warforged immunities?
this happened to me once. i had just tr'd and ran the grotto immediately without having logged out. the game "remembered" that i was a fleshy, even though i tr'd into a forged. i noticed a breath-bar when i went for the silver key, so i stayed under until i drowned. pretty funny.
The Warforged was an original race in ddo. The game gave it several nice features (complete immunity to poison, able to breath under water) etc....
After some years (don't know exactly when), enough players complained to DDO about how the WF was OP. So, they introduced poisoning and drowning; (with a few other changes). Granted, it was a slow drowning bar that they gave you, but you could drown. More players complained about the changes, especially the drowning, so they made a compromise: immunity to some poisons, but not all and they gave immunity to drowning back. It was an interesting time when they nerfed the WF and people all but quit playing the race. I do not know if there are still any info about the original WF and then what changes they did to it on the net anymore.
Emerld
RPG = power game.
You can see it by the many RPG titles : "Dragon Extinction", "Godmaker", "Godslayer", "Godeater", "God of War" ... Many people play RPGs - and MMORPGs like DDO - solely for getting power. That's why min-maxing is so much popular, and that's also why there do not exist social oriented offline singleplayer RPGs (the only one I know is "SIM's Medieval"). Because social ??* power.
"You are a Tiefling. And a Cleric, with the Domain of the Sun. Doesn't that contradict each other ?" "No, all my friends are playing evil. I found that so boring that I decided to be on the good side. And, besides, Sun and Fire, where is the difference, really ?"
I'm also playing a warforged atm and got the breath bar while in the grotto. In a later quest I did not get it while under water. Something is wonky but no idea if it's warforged or the water in the grotto.
