    Lightbulb Augment Changes to Come - suggestions

    Dear Devs -

    As augment changes are underway in some way, shape or form, I would humbly request the DDO Team consider 2 changes:

    1. Could you please "unhook" the need to use collectables (crafting ingredients) to obtain random augments from NPC collectable Collectors. It is an overly expensive system (30/10/5) and too random to be relied upon. This leaves it as a trap for newer players in particular or a desperate gamble to lose rare collectables that are important for crafting.

    2. I would suggest making all those gems and jewels we gather the substitute for collectables. They have always needed another use and this seems, to me, to be a nice niche for them. You could even make special augments available for the few "named gems" in the game (thinking of Dead Girl where you can get the Rose Diamond, I believe).

    ----

    If this is not workable, I would ask the cost for augments from vendors be reduced (to 9/3/1, for example) and that you can choose the augment.


    I appreciate the time to consider these proposals. I also appreciate any feedback or comments from my fellow Forumites, but please, keep it on the topic of augment suggestions. Thank you!

    I think simply choosing the augment would be sufficient, keep in mind that 30/15/5 spends the most of the most common and the least of the rarest. Sure its not cheap but then again your getting something that (should be) as good as crafting an extra effect onto the item without needing to have a crafting level. Considering that most crafted effects are 15/5/0(20), 9/3/1(13) is simply too cheap, perhaps some cost reduction but not that far.

    This is assuming of course that they change the trade-in system to allow us to choose, if they decide to keep the lottery system then making the augments cheaper than crafting is defiantly the way to go(perhaps as far as 1/1/1) after all there is every possibility that you might need to buy 10x or more before you get the one you can use.

    my suggestion is keeping the good augments e.g. fortification\immunities as they are and don't scale them as random loot. in case of fortification, adding epic versions of it. speaking the truth, i fear another "corrupt a wish".

    I think the random option should remain, just with a lower cost. Keep the random option with a 15/5/3 or 10/3/1 trade and offer the specific augment with the 30/10/5 trade. After all, if you're bartering for augments (other than static like water breathing/blind immunity/FF/etc), you're likely not a crafter (waiting for the people to post saying 'I'm a crafter and I get a lot of augments that way'...well, so am I) so collectables don't mean much to you.
