    Default Suggestion: Allow

    Opportunity:

Currently a "Heavy Tank" character cannot effectively taunt or otherwise aggro monsters like mindless undead, plants, golems, etc.

This leads to situations where the tank feels all but useless except as the occasional and literal doorstop.

    Solution:

Allow a heavy tank character some sort of mechanism to invest in that allows them to aggro monsters that cannot currently be intimidated.

From a lore perspective you are simulating the plants natural predator, doing something antithetical to the golems nature, making your heart beat in a more tasty way for the undead, or whatever it takes to unerringly attract the attention of otherwise "cannot be influenced" monsters.

This would allow the tank player to have a more enjoyable experience and feel like they are "doing their job".

    Possible options:

    • Higher than normal intimidate score
    • Enhancement tree changes for the Fighter, Paladin, and Druid (and perhaps others)
    • Special gear/augments/filigrees
    • Future destiny rework

    Priority:

Not super high, but it's silly that someone with this high of an intimidate cannot taunt a level 1 skelington.

You can hate tank them. I do it on my bear tank all the time, got over 2000% threat increase with all boosties going. I don't care how **** your damage is, if you have that much bonus threat nobody's taking stuff away from you unless they also have bonus threat (which they shouldn't have if you're tanking.) Just have people stay back until you pick up the aggro, whack them a bit, then they can go to town.

Now, there are a few mobs in the game that genuinely have *random* aggro (flesh golems in particular), but that's part of the monster type. They're quite rare.

Possible, yet highly problematic in practice. Ranged/casters further exacerbate the opportunity.

A fully functional taunt capability would amend the situation rather nicely and put full control in that hands of the tank player.

I could see the ability to intimidate Vermin/Undead/Constructs added to the Sacred/Stalwart Defender trees, and somewhere in Ravager as well. Like how bards get to add those to their fascinate, or rangers add vermin to their empathy.
