Default new WotC D&D Book: Tasha's Cauldron of Everything

Sounds very very interesting. New character creation optional rules, and lots more.
And that is Tasha of the spell Tasha's Hideous Laughter fame.

So the new rule change is them removing a bunch of the rules that made D&D, D&D. At first read, to me, it seems like they're throwing to doors wide open to min/max/munchkining.

Still, I've barely cracked open the 5E core books, so take my skepticism with a grain of Pixie dust.

My first thoughts as well. What's the point of choosing, of making a choice of race or class even, if everything is/can be the same. No consequences, no reward/punishment for (lack of) long term planning. No complex interations, no give and take. No limits to be pushed, no striving, nothing unexpected, no hero from unexpectedness. No surprise failure from the unforseen shadows... Fun?

I want to learn about the world, the differences, the patterns, what makes it go. Sometimes that means greatness, other times that means mistakes. And sometimes then I learn more about myself then the world. So bizarre of the people in this article. Listen to them, how they view themselves. How they view the rules. A ruling book, dictating their play. As if we, friends and family gathered 'round, needed such a tome to permit us to play however we wanted. How odd.

Ideas, a seed planted. A shared world grown. The rules were always loose and breakable. Now the rulemakers wash their hands of their sacred responsibility: to foster. DND, so skittish now. Reminds me of gardeners that hack away the trellis. Cheering the weeds. Giddy at relief from the fear of leadership. Gazing upon their monotonous bland abandoned world. Perhaps someday some braver quester will unearth this arcana and wonder at the beauty that formerly towered there.

    Just sayin' Mem.

Can't wait. I want it. Gotta have it. But then......................

As CDB posted, same goes here. Our PnP group is just now embracing 5e rule set. And to get rid of racial traits? Not in my campaigns
