Orb/Shield cosmetics

Not a fan of most of the orbs in the game but there are plenty of good looking shields.

Was there ever any technical reason why they couldn't simply be in the same category for cosmetics?

Would be real nice to be able to use a shield cosmetic while wielding an orb.

I believe its an animation issue. Your character holds an orb differently from a shield and thus when you equip the item somehow it tells your character how to "hold" it. But there are some exceptions such as the orbs that look like books, they are "held" differently than either regular orbs or shields.

I'm all for letting our characters look just about however we want within reason and appropriateness to the setting, and modesty. I don't want to see any naked or speedo wearing dwarves or halforcs or Gygax-forbid PDKs. EVER.

I think that this is an interesting idea.
I think it would rather work with bucklers, though.

Why not build a shield-orb which combines both the look of a buckler with a big sphere in the middle ?


I recently glamered the Nether Orb I had, fortunately it didn't bind, or at least it seemed to me so.

I'm careful regardless, because i don't want items to be bound to characters which have no use for them.

I did so because I found the looks of most random loot orbs boring, to be frank. And even both the Flamesphere and the Nicked Orb don't have a distinct look (apart from the egyptian Ankh sign).

Only days after that i managed to ge The Mistfallen (orb), but the glamered Nether Orb fits better to the colours of my low-level burgundy-violet wizard ( I hope I can do a screenshot of her, once i find a fitting place where she really stands out).
