Question on Friends List and Chat-Related Issues

Both of my accounts are affected as well as 3 other friends that do not use the forums For me it has occurred over several logins, for the three other friends it has occurred on a combined 5 logins.

I have noticed that if I login and essentially don't do anything for 20-30 mins that the client will connect to all chat channels and will work until I switch chars or need to relog. I think that changing zones and changing party state will prevent this from happening. This usually occurs when I login and am waiting for friends or while I am finishing dinner or something.

When it connects all features are working: guild chat, party chat, friends list, etc.

- Friends list is gone
- Party chat gives intermittent chat "failed to enter chat" messages
- Voice chat mostly not working. Sometimes logging lets Voice chat work and then minutes later, it ceases to work.
- Guild chat allows typing but never see any chat messages from guildmates
- The dice roll feature strangely enough works and all guildmates can see the dice roll messages
- The behavior overall is very erratic, almost random. Once voice chat is gone, it does not return except sometimes on a relog, but then it stops working after minutes anyway
- When voice chat fails, the push-to-talk not only prevents the chat but my character name doesn't even change color to indicate my mic is active

Prior to the last Thelanis update, chat and voice chat were working perfectly

I want to get a better sense of how many players are still experiencing issues with their Friends list and other chat-related issues, like voice chat not working and/or guild chat not working. We KNOW Thelanis is still experiencing this issue, but not how many are impacted. Additionally, it isn't clear if this is still happening outside of Thelanis. Let me know.

Our entire guild of 65 accounts (on Thelanis), except for one guy that seems to have it working about 50% of the time.

No Guild chat, no channels. No Party chat. No friends list. No Orien Post. Tried Sarlona? Had no problems

My main lost the friend list (haven't bothered to check alts). Chat is on and off. I solo a lot, but frequently get the "joined party chat" message a good 5 to 10 minutes AFTER summoning the hireling. It's at least once a session, if not more, with my usual session being 3 hours or so.

The bigger issue, however, is getting stuck in load screens. It's awful and increasingly frequent. A few times a sesson, more often than not.

I and the several friends still playing on Ghallanda still have this issue as well. No friends list, no squelch list, no chat besides tells. It is killing the urge to play DDO completely.

Some characters have friends list sometimes. When the list appears to be functional, it's not entirely and will list that friends are not on when they are. Party chat sometimes works, usually doesn't. I'm new and only have 2 people (with multiple characters) on my list and have only partied with them. Sometimes I have to actually TALK to my spouse, sometimes party chat works. Same with our other friend.

/tell seems to always work.

I'm not in a guild.

Yep. Got on today to play with my Sister and couldn't invite her to my party (as I usually do) via the friends list. Didn't check it later to see if it had popped up, but the two characters I logged on with had it missing when I looked at it.

It's 'there', just not showing.

[Thelanis] Mine is also empty, but doing an "Import" runs the list and 'refreshes' some characters, according to the chat dialog. But Friends window still shows empty.

Party chat:
5 party runs over the last 2 days on 5 different logins. I had access to party chat on 3 of them but in each party, there was at least 1 person in each party who had party chat borked.

Guild chat:
Seems to be hit or miss. Always shows up for me when I type it but only about 50% of guildies on see it. Same when they type something, I only see it on about 50% of my logins.

Friends list:
Friends list was populating fine until yesterday for me. I had added a new friend the night before and they showed up when I first logged in yesterday, then Friends list was blank when I logged in again later in the day.

Will try to get more data (including times) over the next couple of days.

Ive also had issues with not being able to connect to the chat servers. Its almost always when im using my phone as a hotspot. (Public/private network issue?). When i switch to my home Wi-Fi the problem is corrected

My guild and I have had intermittent chat problems on Thelanis, One time it's working and then I log on to another guy, and then it doesn't work. Friends list is almost never there but will appear after a while. Sending tells seems to be ok. I have been also getting other peoples voice chat out of the blue. I was listening to a guild that was in group and I wasn't in any party and I wasn't in any other kind of voice chat service (Discord). I had to log out to get rid of it.

On Thelanis - TYPICAL behavior:

Normally, no chat works upon entering game. After awhile, a message is sometimes received saying the connection to chat server has been re-established. If this happens, guild and party chats seem to work fine. On other occasions, nothing ever changes and chat stays inoperative Tells between players always seem to work. None of this is apparently affected by changing toons, joining parties, creating parties, logging in/out, restarting.

Friends List is totally random; sometimes it's there, sometimes it isn't.

All my Thelanis Friends Lists are currently: blank, i.e. no change since [Post #54]. After adding a new Friend to one single list; it seemed to instead, "blank" them ALL, on every single Character - for some weird reason - permanently. :-/

One weird thing we've noticed is that /roll seems to work in party chat for everyone even when nothing else displays. Really odd that.

No party chat, no friends list, no guild chat. It worked for a brief period of time the other day, and was nice. As it stands though, pretty hard to PUG anything.

Please fix as soon as able. Preferably with a different chat engine.

In 10 years of playing the game across 7 computers and 11 sound cards Voice chat has NEVER worked correctly for me.

Then you are doing it wrongly hehehe. Time to smash your computer.
