I could imagine Ravens as transport medium.
At least within Ravenloft.
They seem to be the only ones who have no problems travelling through the mist.
Or ... what about transport via planes that are supposed to exist in any (A)D&D setting ?
Edit : Wikipedia tells me that there are indeed very few options.
The only other way I can think of is to do a mailbox *within* the mist in House Jorasco : Since the mist there seems / appears to belong to Ravenloft more or less, so to say, it can be seen as some kind of "outlet". If then a mailbox would be situated *within* this mist at the entrance in House Jorasco, it would - in this interpretation, if I follow it - still belong to Ravenloft.
The same would be true for the mist within Eveningstar, then.
"You are a Tiefling. And a Cleric, with the Domain of the Sun. Doesn't that contradict each other ?" "No, all my friends are playing evil. I found that so boring that I decided to be on the good side. And, besides, Sun and Fire, where is the difference, really ?"
Yeah, this - by lore it should be nearly impossible to get out of Ravenloft in general.
I think it should stay like this even if not convenient, especially when the bottle of mist + exit to guild ship/eveningstar options make Ravenloft kind of the easiest waypoint to get from anywhere to anywhere else (for those who have the bottle). The lack of a mailbox is at least a little nod to the lore that makes it feel a little less connected.

I suspect WOTC won't allow a mailbox.
They have to get WOTC blessing on just about everything they do.

I like the idea of putting a mailbox at the ES and Jorasco entrances to Ravenloft, because after all, the Orien postal workers union absolutely refuses to set foot in Ravenloft, as well they should. Negotiations with the Kobold workers union as an alternate supplier broke down, because 'Kobold STILL hate you', despite promises that kobold family would eat fresh rat tonight.

Basic amenities in paid expansion content makes sense to me.
The lore reasoning is rather flimsy. If people really wanted lore we'd never be able to leave, or at best end up in our own demiplane.
The House K bank, guild ship access, and House J transport option being present already "breaks immersion" or whatnot.
DDO has enough problems and doesn't have to be 10 miles uphill each way for no good reason.
