Default Favored Soul/Warlock - Compatible and Worthwhile?

Admittedly, I'm no builder stat-guru (a quick perusal of my threads will back that up!)
But, I was just thinking about how a Warlock is CHA based and a Favored Soul can be CHA based, and it got me wondering.
Obviously, you'd be playing more for the fun aspects of Heroics than building some end-game reaper nightmare.
But, aren't there a variety of both ranged 'pew-pew' aspects of both classes that could be brought to bear?
For that matter, I believe both have enhancement tree options which might have some cool 'aura' type abilities that might be built into something more melee oriented.
Or am I way off on all of this?

    Curious!

I have a Warlock/FVS/VSF build on the go. It's melee & not CHA based but it's doing pretty good. Not as strong as my pure barb but I think it'll overtake in epics.

It's a 13/7 split, Enlightened Spirit up to 4th core & T4 (for scaling light on-hit damage) - WarSoul up to T5 for full BAB, crit, strength, doublestrike & 10d6 scaling on-hit damage & only a few points into VSF for the +20% doublestrike. All in, it's a 2wf with buttloads of doublestrike, tons of on-hit damage with strong scaling & a ticking aura/burst clickie to handle AoE trash clearing. Plus it heals, has displacement, evards & pairs perfectly with the flamecleansed fury set from Sharn.

Really, the only thing it lacks is an extended crit range. I couldn't find a way to fit it in without losing more than I gained.

Whoops - yup it should have been VKF. I just take the tier 1 doublestrike attack. It's an easy +20 stacking doublestrike chance so it felt like a good pick. If you don't mind losing that you can go any other weapon though.

The big reason why I made it though was to try run the Fatesinger epic destiny. That thing should super-power basically everything I'm trying to do. Oh, that & I only solo so I generally only pick classes that can handle stuff on their own.

I am thinking you would get more mileage out of a paladin or artificer splash vs. warlock if you want to go with inquisitive using your crossbows as favored weapons. You will just want verification (maybe someone on forums can verify) that this works with grace of battle if you plan to go charisma-based.

The main advantage of splashing paladin is that you gain low-hanging defense boosts from sacred defender, a boost to saves based on charisma, fear immunity, disease immunity with as little as 3 levels of paladin. Artificer has more synergies with cross-bow and allows rune arm use and opens up trapping. You could potentially splash both.

I'm probably the only one who feels this way, but I'm personally not a fan of Inquisitive.
Well, to be fair, I'm not a fan of Inquisitive when I'm playing a caster.
There's a place for Two Guns John Woo style play, I suppose.
But it doesn't suit me, personally.

What I liked about the idea of a Favored Soul/Warlock was that I could picture some kind of thematic synergy between (for example) the Angel of Vengeance throwing laser blasts and the Warlock with his Eldritch Blasts.
It might not work in any real practical way...but the mind-movie looks pretty great

I suppose you could splash warlock to add Feigned Health to a Beacon of Hope build. The temp HPs should proc every time you use Close Wounds SLA or your Beacons.

However combining the two on a DPS caster doesn't do much good. Your Eldritch Blast damage is scaled by your warlock levels and your FvS spell damage is based on caster levels; being subpar at two forms of DPS isn't as good as being focused on one. And you can't shoot Eldritch Blasts while casting spells simultaneously. You can switch on Eldritch Aura which is a passive proc, but it is/was bugged on multiclassed casters where it could make your spells be based on your warlock caster level, rather than the correct class; not sure if that got fixed.
