Well I didn't mean to open a can of worms, but here was my thinking:

People who purchased the Season Pass two years ago did so with an understanding that they wouldn't need to buy any adventure packs for the next two years.

Towards the end of the Season Pass, all adventure packs released during that time (except for possibly one at the end of the year) are given out for free with a coupon code.

The reason I am asking if we might get anything more is because my incentive to get the Season Pass next time if it comes around again is pretty low. $300 is a lot of money and I feel a bit ripped-off this time around.

Sure, which is why I didn't buy it. They charged you 50% more than a VIP, and all you got was the gold rolls. And you paid it, knowing the deal.

Especially since "you'll end up permanently owning more than an equivalent VIP" was touted as a selling point.
Ah, I see... Season Pass was for Premium players who intended to go back to Premium? Because you won't have any more content than any VIP player who remains VIP.

It was a terrible deal for any long-term VIP players. Got us nothing. It was the weirdest "sale" I've seen from a company in a long time. Usually when once pays in advance, you get a discount, not pay more. I was pretty flabbergasted when they put out a deal saying pay 2 years in advance but pay 50% more.

But they sold out, so I guess it worked. No point complaining now.. You got exactly what you paid for.

That's a decision you'll have to make next time.

I'm not sure why you feel ripped off. You got exactly what you paid for. Nothing was taken away from you.

Plenty of Premium players paid for content that is now given out free. Were they all ripped off? I mean nearly every Premium player in the game has paid for packs and now they are all free.

So should EVERY player in the game feel ripped off? It's a serious question.

If you're allowed to feel like SSG screwed you over, then EVERY Premium player got screwed over.

Which is a weird position to take since SSG is being super generous, yet it seems like every player has a right to feel ripped off?

I got the season pass. And I would request something along these lines.

Make 3 new items or such, like a new gold hireling, and special mount, or new bag or something.
Sell them in the DDO store. and put them in before the end of the year.
Make them free to season pass people.
Gives us season pass people something, and gives them something to sell in the DDO store.

I am happy with how things are going, so I will not be "mad" if I get nothing else, but if we did, it would be nice.

OH, a thought, something I would like to see anyway. An option when entering a wilderness area, to have it set at "max" party size.
This could be one of the things. This is for zones that scale amount of mobs to the party size.

Malicious gossip has it that the freequests gift is for supporting the coming hardcore seasons....
Be as it may, if you seriously think you got ripped off, don't go for a season pass offering again. The only thing you can do is vote with your wallet. Don't just scream it from the rooftop like many do, do it for realz.
I know a lot of people want to support the game. But in the end it is a business and you pay for a product. If this product is not to your liking, don't buy it.
And yes, I know it is a bleak point of view. I feel I am tilting at windmills for years now. it is what it is. Take it or leave it!

    Cheers,
    Titus.

VIP has ALWAYS been a very bad deal if you are doing it for access to content. Season pass was no exception... except it was about gambling...not content. Pay a chunk of change now and over the course of a couple of years, if you get lucky, you'll come away with more stuff than you could have purchased from the store. That was the big selling point of season pass, and nothing has changed.

Nobody gets VIP for access to content. Access to content is super cheap. Content is among the cheapest items in the store. If you feel ripped off because they are trying to retain some of the massive influx of new players with free/super duper cheap content, well, that's just silly!

At this point making content free/super duper cheap does nothing but benefit everyone.

I don't feel like I got ripped-off because new players get all of this stuff for free. I like that it's bringing players in.

I suppose the best way to describe my feeling is "buyer's remorse".

It doesn't help that the gold rolls haven't seemed to favor me in the time I've had it. In the time so far I've gotten 3 or 4 duplicate pets, 3 ugly cosmetic armors that I turned to dust, and a +20 heart of wood. Better than nothing? Yes. Worth the $300? Not at all.

I don't feel it worth the money i have to say, since a big part of me paying the money up front was the addition to keep the content for free, only to find out most of the content released in the 2 years was revamped stuff i already had, and the stuff that was new everyone was given it for free, maybe a discount on the expansions released during would have been helpful, as there that takes a lot of time out from making adventure packs and new content, so they basically made us buy most of the new stuff anyway. as the people who bought the season pass are most likely going to buy the expansions and prob the top tier one, so even the races class we end up buying.

If they bring out a season pass again i would want to know how many expansions adventure packs would be released in that time, and which would be actual new content and which would be revamped.

Did I fall into a time warp? Do we really need ANOTHER thread about how mad people are about people getting stuff for free?

If you think season pass holders should get s'more this year, think of some suggestions. If you want to gripe, just go post on one of the old threads that has like 50 pages.

The only thing I got for free with the codes was the latest pack. I already owned everything up through KotBL. And I am pretty sure I'ev spend more than 300 over the years.

However I am happy to see it easier for new players to get functional accounts set up. I have even gotten a few lapsed players to log in just for the codes.

And really, does every deal need to come with a disclaimer "Exclusive deal for you, unless there is a global pandemic and we decided to give some of it away to help our community out . . ."

lol. You bad at maths. You got 2 years of vip at 100 dollars a year so there is 200 dollars of your "good deal". You also got daily gold rolls. I value that at 9390 shards to do daily gold rolls on one server. I subtracted out 104 rolls for what would be considered the one gold roll a week for a standard vip. You also got a cosmetic that only 999 other people have. Value who knows. Considering what some people will spend on hardcore for a cosmetic. another lulz for another time. You also got a Otto's box value around 50 bucks full retail. You got Tiefling, alchemist and maybe shifter if Fey is out this year. I know I know it's included in the expansions but none the less it also included in your pass. Value 35-40 dollars. Ok now back to the packs you think you got ripped on. Value wise about 2200 ddo points. roughly about 25 bucks.

Since all this was packaged up for a price of 300 bucks. The 3 packs you feel ripped on are only valued in your package as maybe 10% of the actual value. You would be owed 300 ddo points. lol. Mostly for your tears. Not because they actually owe you a f thing.

As I said on page 1, I really don't feel like my Season Pass purchase was diminished by the Coupon. But, just as a thought-exercise, I got to thinking about what would be a good "bonus" type thing that could be offered. Something in line with the rest of the offerings in the Pass. This would be my one and only suggestion along those lines:

A Silver Dragon Armor themed horse. One that had barding that matches the cosmetic armor Pass holders were granted. I feel like that would be appropriate, and very cool looking.

But, if nothing more is offered - I'm still good.

It was established as a really bad deal while it was on sale as I recall, but I certainly understand the buyer's remorse.

Simple, extend the benefit of all "free to VIP" items being added to the account through the end of 2022. Replace two years with two years. Anyone who continues to subscribe won't notice a difference, and anyone that goes back to premium gets the benefit they paid for.

I didn’t get anything because I didn’t get the season pass. But I would like to see the next round of season passes sell well, so I’d like to see SSG give the season pass folks an extra perk as a pleasant surprise.

SSG has caused a lot of things in the season pass to get devalued. Including the Otto’s Box.
