We do have a new audience seeing these, so cool on letting us know what you think. As people can see with their accidental removal, they proved quite popular in the first two seasons, and we do have the ability to adjust what level death and above the messages display for. Overall, they seem to add to the experience in that they provide a bit of an event atmosphere, along with some reassurance that people are in fact dying fairly regularly on the server.
UPDATE: I am now up to speed on this. We'll look into it.

Quite a lot of Players around Character Levels 5-7 seem to be dying to "Misadventure"... I presume that's mostly causalities to 'Traps' or other stupid deaths. Death from '(Bound) Fire Elemental' and 'Wolf' messages appear fairly frequently for deaths to players below Level 10.
I'm not seeing all the deaths plastered across the screen so it's not too distracting. Deaths under Character Level 5; should probably just be restricted to the global Chat Channel [Hardcore Channel] 'red text' broadcast only. Or else, I agree it probably would become far too repetitive with them in your face.
My solo (not within a guild) default path Assassin hasn't died yet, she's nearing enough XP to take Level 5 - just equipped with equipment she's found within quests. I level far too slowly with my main Characters on home Server. Thus I'd never reach Level 20 in time for "closing" anyway (you need to more than double the duration) LOL. I'm only loosely aiming for 500 Favour. Depending on my snail paced levelling speed I might consider: 1,750. Albeit if she dies I won't bother with a second Character as the cosmetic doesn't interest me anyway. :-)

I don't get why people are complaining lol this isn't a new thing. I do prefer the old style of red at the top of the screen. This yellow middle of the screen stuff I mostly just tune out like it were DM text.
Not sure why some are mid and some are top of the screen though, I just hopped on.

It is distracting to the point of being actively dangerous. Please remove it.

"Of course it is. Are YOU going to question beholder's artistic sense?"
While this is being discussed, is it WAI that deaths under level five were added back to the announcements?
Today I saw one death message in the middle of the screen that consisted of 2 string table errors. I was unfortunately not fast enough to screenshot it, but confirmed with the rest of the party that they had also seen it.
I've never seen these messages across the screen. When does this happen?
Got complaints about the in-game hirelings?
That's nothing compared to what they say about YOU

A less distracting location would be the VERY top of the screen or even have a Toggle Off/On feature. I would pay money to have such a feature. Maybe we can make it moveable like other windows? Change the color? Truthfully, knowing people are dying out there is fine... but nothing below level 10 is needed imho.
Thank you for your considerations.

under lvl 10 - chat box
lvl 10 + large notice
The HC server is unique, and should remain as such. I can understand that some players might not like the death announcements, but that is a big part of the HC server.
I think that all players should get an announcement, at all levels. I find that in group/guildchat/chat channels, players on the HC server are finding the deaths hilarious at times, and it creates jokes, comments, and all around conversation within the community. This is a good thing for DDO.
IMO, the original screen text was better than the current. The current text gets mixed up with the DM text and feels like it covers the screen more. The World Broadcast death messages should be unique. With them being at the 12 o'clock position, I can understand how the old message would be distracting at times. Is it possible to move the world broadcast messages to either Left/Right side? Would that be better, or worse? Either way, the original style message was better.
