Default Returning 30 Monk calling on the vets for build help

Ok guys, I’ve been gone for some time (like prob a few years time). I will login my monk later to post his current setup. for now he’s a 30 Human 32 point Monk. I am looking at two goals and then one never ending character build through reincarnations. First things first the two goals, goal one and two; work on my crafting and farm some of the low level item sets, both in preparation to gather sets of gear for leveling to make the process a little easier on myself when reincarnating. Which leads me to the never ending character build; the end game goal is a pure monk, I enjoy the class. The never ending part is probably more of a feeling since there will be many reincarnations as i would like to go for the most powerful monk (not just dps but dcs for things like qp and stunning fist) I can try to get through past feats / extra build points (iirc it goes up to 36 through reincarnations).
With this is mind that’s why i’m calling on the vets, I’ve been gone a long time, things have changed, also I was probably never a strong builder anyway lol. So I am assuming things like completionist and racial completionist are strong and will be open to those later, for now I was thinking I would go ahead and knock out my monk lives. Which is where you guys come in. I am looking for help on build setup, items to craft / farm so i can easily do 1-30 after reincarnation without trying to farm any needed items. I will group when I can but based on the community size and the fact I work full time, married, and have a wild four year old son, I will probably be soloing a lot lol. Last time I played, Aasimar Wis based Monk was strong for both but things may have changed. any and all help is appreciated, maybe I will even see some of the older builders come out <looking at guys like but not limited to you Drawing and Symb lol>

hmm seems like the community (or at least the monk portion of it) has died out.

Your wall of text is a little hard to decipher without a couple read-thrus so that may have contributed to a lack of response.

If you are shooting for purely monk lives but intend to go to 30 (instead of 1-20 and tr for the monk lives) then I recommend ETR/TR to maximize efficiency.

Strimtom has a Aesimar fist monk build that works well soloing.

Gear, well, I can't help you there, it changes so fast. A solid cannith set at 3/8/13/18/23 should carry you thru for leveling purposes, but it won't be endgame capable. For that you will need Ravenloft/Sharn sets.

Consider Henshin - with Strikethrough, it's pretty incredible now.

I ran a pure Aasimar henshin a couple months ago. Farmed an Elemental Bloom, went FoTW (PL reasons) and had zero trouble questing. Between Strikethough and Doublestrike, ELCaS would proc an average of 4 times on groups, each proc healing me for ~80 in low reaper (and everyone else ~180) between levels 15 and 20

Edit: Whoops, no level range specified on that healing number

I saw a few vids of some henshin gameplay since it’s gotten better, but I don’t know enough about it, there was no henshin monk when i quit... henshin was around but was so trash that 0 people used it. do they still use wraps or does henshin use qstacks? (personal preference here but i don’t want to use staff)

Henshin works best with q-staff, but I imagine you could avoid the q-staff specific abilities in the tree and focus on the rest.

Check out theory crafting the celestial monk
History of Henshin to wraps build

It’s a year dead, but the only diff would be new raid items
You can figure that, it’s the fun of the game

There is serious detail of build and items needed
    From low to high

    Anyways, my testimony to monk
    Happy adventuring

You wrote that ELCaS procs and heals the group. Did you mean SCEWL, the complementary T5 ability?

I've been doing Racial TR's on my monk. Currently on my last human life and moving to Assmir next (excited to try that). I've been using a standard Dex/Wis build that I used for years (Max out Dex and Wis, put the rest into Con, get Int to 10 for points). I focus on Shintao, with a few points in Ninja Spy (dex to hit/damage). I just recently got the Falconry tree so I will probably try a high Wis with the Falconry enhancements to get Wis to hit/damage.

As for gear, I am way behind on crafting, so I have just been using things as I find them. The Scorched Wraps are awesome for low level, along with the Ghostbane wraps from the Catacombs series. Other gear to note is the stuff from the "White Plume Mountain" series/ The quests are in the Twelve, gear is level 6, and incredibly powerful at that level. My favorite pieces are the Memories of the Unseen (extra poison damage per hit), The Shadowshimmer outfit (Con +4, Dusk, and banishing fist), and the Steelweave shinguards (striding, dodge, and electric absorption)/ After that you get Ravenloft gear (all pretty good, the handwraps will carry you to 20 easily).

For endgame gear, Sharn stuff is hard to beat. I'm still mapping out how this will look though.

All in All, the old standard for monk is still viable and fun to play. Go with your gut and play around with some races to see what fits best.

Magic is a curious thing; full of hope and promise one minute, then someone summons a t-rex jet fighter to kill you.

    Whoops, yes.

Side note: is ELCaS still bugged so that party members get negs? I think I hear a hardcore troll build calling my name...;D
