    Default Looking for old quests

I started playing again a couple months ago and haven't found a few quests I remember from when this game launched. I don't remember the names of them, but can describe them.

    1. First quest (at least back then) where you come across a beholder. He's kind of in this room and you can hide behind some columns while you're fighting him.
    2. Cave that has mostly giants in it. They put some of the best drops in the game in the final chests, but then they nerfed them after about a month, because it was way too easy.
    3. Castle or church maybe? Had first instance of fire reavers you would encounter. I think you had to walk through some outdoors to get there. Bloody animal skulls on the doors.

    Thanks

    1. I think you may be referring to the outdoor Beholder encounter in Threnal where there are some columns to run around.

    2. Again, this is Threnal, explorer area, Fire Caves.

    3. Does not ring a bell ... assuming you mean close to launch when level 10 was cap. Fire Reavers were in ... some of the Threnal quests, Demon Queen (shortly after launch), Invaders ... and I can't think of anything else. I believe Demon Queen (pre-raid) may be what you are thinking of though.

    1. Caverns of Korromar?

    3. Church of the Fury from Sorrowdusk? or Purge the Fallen Shrine from Sands?

    1) Excluding events, I think the very first beholder encounters come at level 8 in Caverns of Korromar and The Prisoner. More come at level 9 during Entering the Gate Chamber, The Jungles of Khyber and The Missing Expedition.

The Prisoner includes lots of terrain by at least one character must approach a spawn point to make the associated beholder appear. Your description better matches he beholder area in The Jungles of Khyber, which includes 4 normal an 2 possible named beholders. The cave contains many natural columns, giant mushrooms, and elevation changes allowing for hide and seek fighting.

At level 11, Dreams of Insanity includes quite a few beholders. The final fight, finding runes while beholders and other stuff teleport in, could match your description.

    2) The Gate Chamber at the end of the Threnel quest line may meet this description. You get a list of named items after finishing the quest. If those items were made less powerful, it occurred before I began playing.

    3) Purge the Fallen Shrine. It is a level 11 walk-up quest out in the Demon Sands, near The Chamber of Riayum.

I would say #3 is cult of six last part, purge the fallen shrine does not invoke a church and was not in the game at release. C06 also has skulls on the door.

#1 beholder and pillars I would say threnal south Second last part - elder beholder encounter has pillars you can hide behind To avoid the rays and is a memorable encounter. Kok does not have pillars per se.

#2 are definitely the Giant Caves in the Threnal wilderness area.

The Fires Caves are in the Three Barrel Cove wilderness area.

    Thanks for the replies.
I think the beholder is the one in Threnal. Cult of the six was the one with the fire reaver. I haven't checked out the giant cave, but threnal sounds right. So much stuff in this game now that I haven't even gone to some of the old places.

I was wrong. It was Caverns of Korromar with the Beholder. The columns are up top before you drop down.

    1. caverns of korromar has one beholder and lots of undead...and a firereaver or four.

    2. Stormcleave has a wilderness (like) area with a couple of caves with giants in it and lots of chests. (house d anvilfire inn) I used to get some decent stuff there back in the day 2006-7?. Still a fun run!

    3. the sorrowdusk quest line has several firereavers in the last part of the quest (part2.3 in house D). And a creepy door with stretched skin over it.

These used to be quests you did with full parties but they have become less difficult (due to loot/character upgrades) over time. I remember just a month ago I was pulling 5 vorpals a day..good times. Back in the day you had to run the Wiz king on elite at least 3 times before someone pulled one... ah memories!

(I still have a +1 vorpal longsword loaned to me by my guild leader so long ago. Never got to return it.)
