    Default New Player Wizard Build

    Hail friends,

I am a new player, just starting on my second life (first was artificer), and I am looking for a Wizard build. I mostly solo so looking for a build that will see me through to 20. Doesn't need to be super fast as I enjoy the experience and fun. Solo friendly I guess is the key. I hated traps during my first life even though the artificer dealt with them relatively well but not a big issue as I stubbornly try to do quests on Elite and Hard (my own fault). I also have 34 points.

    Thanks!

    Default F2P Dwarf Wizard

I just put up my build yesterday. I'd be honored if you tried it out and gave me some feedback.

It's a tanky melee blaster. As long as you have a shield equipped and have one of your death aura's going you should be able to clear most traps on elite.

I wrote it as a 28pt build so feel free to put in extra points into Intelligence.

The other good Wizard build I'd recommend would be the pale trapper

    Happy Wizarding!

Default Some of my Wizard Videos

For HCL 1 I did my Palemaster guide. It is just 1-10 as I was just trying to help everyone sending me tells get over the hump but this video covers the core ideals.

I also have a video for the build I use for my Road Most/Least Taken walkthrough guides that can hard carry without too much worry.

Sorry for the newbie question but I don't seem to have the proficiency for Dwarven War Axe. Is this correct or am I missing something?

No worries Fhen. I'm happy to answer questions. This is obvious to me so I didn't think about adding it to my post. I'll correct that. Thank you for help making the build more accessible to new players.

At level 1 you will need to take the spell Master's Touch to get proficiency with All Martial Weapons and the Dwarven War Axe (assuming you are a dwarf).

At level 1 you will have spell failure caused by the shield (15%) so I usually use a two handed weapon until level 6. But I carry the shield around in case of traps or dangerous fights. If you don't have a trapper throw a Heavy Shield on as it doubles your PRR and MRR value for traps. https://ddowiki.com/page/Magical_Res...eld_multiplier

At level 3 all you need to do to get Martial Weapon proficiency (and Dwarven War Axe proficiency) is put 1 point into the Spell Sword core of Eldritch Knight. This also give you damage and ghost touch on your weapons and scales with your level. So basically it's super good.

At level 6 pick up Imbue the Blade from Eldritch Knight as this reduces your Heavy Shield arcane failure to 0 and will take 15 off from your armor.

At the very end of level 7 (when you have 28 AP) pick up Armored Arcana and keep your 6 points in Pale Master for Wraith form for self healing, extra defenses, and a free feather fall. You will want to be in Medium Armor without spell failure. Medium Armor will make you more survivable because it removes the cap on MRR and raises your PRR. A little about that here. https://ddowiki.com/page/Physical_Re...Sources_of_PRR https://ddowiki.com/page/Magical_Res...Rating#MRR_cap

Does that help? Any other questions? Sorry I got a little off topic.
