Launcher Error - "Unable to decrypt & de-serialize the data..."

Hey Mindos,

Just before I get to all your points here, and the subsequent post from Buddha...

I tried to visit akamai.ddo.com on my browser (Google Chrome), and i got a blank white page with "Not Found" on the top left hand corner.
I'll assume its not meant to be doing that!
Does this give us a better indication of whats wrong and where to go to next?

The not found is a response from akamai saying you didn't have a file in the address to download. But it does tell us something! It tells us that yes you can reach the akamai servers. Try putting that full path to akamai in your web browser just in case. I suspect it will want to download that small file. If that also works, then it means your computer can reach the patching files, so we know the problem is somewhere else.

I'm running out of things to try, sorry! Some people have used a proxy server with success. You would have to goggle how to do that, there are some free ones. Good luck! I would try skipping any home wifi/router and trying to plug directly into a cable modem/isp modem thing first to see if that makes a difference. And you are absolutely sure that windows defender/any other anti-virus is off, like norton, shield named things from 3rd party companies besides Microsoft, etc, are all turned off, and that anything that mentions anything vaguely similar to "real time protection" is off? I only mention this because often these can "hold" a file downloaded for a few seconds, sometimes timing out any download pending. This is why I also mentioned limiting the download rate in the launcher settings, to avoid any bottlenecks with the download speed overloading anything.

What are my options here?

So options:

1. Keep restarting the launcher everytime it fails, it might download the next small file each time.
2. Use a free proxy server temporarily, google how to do this, I'm not an expert by any means.
3. Try unplugging both the router and modem again, leaving them unplugged for a bit longer, then plugging the modem in first, then after it has booted up, plugging the router in if you have one.
4. Get a working copy of the game from someone else, their computer, etc, and just copy the whole directory to a usb drive and copy that over to your computer?

Those are the only things I think that others have reported have worked. Going off the wall here, is the harddrive full? is the UAC setup changed to not prompt you when it needs admin permissions? etc. I'm really running out of ideas. You are clicking on dndlauncher.exe?

OK, i've just launched the installer (yes, im clocking on dndlauncher) and seeing where it goes.
Normally it downloads files incrementally, but always stops when it gets to the de-serialise error and goes no further.
I dont want to jinx it, but it seems to be downloading more than it normally does.

I must say, my attempts to fix this have always been during weeknights and not during the day (like i am right now).
Not sure if the time of day has any affect, but maybe it has here.

I'll see if this stops at some point (which it has in the past), and then continue down the dot point list.

The launcher is stating there is 1387 files left to download, and ive just downloaded 481 of them.
Usually it would download somewhere between 5 - 15 files and then error out, so looking positive so far!

- The Install that finally worked was the DDO Wrapper one i got from the other thread (but im not sure if this was actually required)
- I did consistently get the two errors i listed above, but DID NOT get the de-serialise one, which is where my install would stop all the time
- As per before, x amount of files would download, error, then more files would download
- I did try this during the day, where previous attempts were all done at night time (but on different days)

I'm not really sure what has caused the fix here... but i'm happy... i finally got to redeem the free adventure pack thing that was expiring in August
