Default Launcher Error - "Unable to decrypt & de-serialize the data..."

    Hello all,

I'm a returning player and am currently getting this error message at the launcher, right when it seems like the update is about complete.
"Unable to decrypt & de-serialize the data downloaded from the server"

I've literally uninstalled DDO completely and re-installed it from scratch, and still getting this same error.
I'm running Windows 10 Home, no changes at all to the environment, so not sure where else to go.
A quick search on Google hasn't helped either

    Any thoughts??

I found this old advice: https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...=1#post4446553
    You downloaded from here? http://live.ddo.com/sites/clientdl/ddo/ddolive.exe

I am having the same issue, I have tried the steam version and the non steam version, tried reppairing and deleting various .dat files and redownloading them. Tried wthout A/V
patching also with no success. And have tried various possible DDO and LOTRO solutions from google searching the issue.

Ask Microsoft. They regularly BEEEEEP home users with their forced Home Edition updates - did you know that paying companies can withhold updates for months ? Until the de facto beta testing through home users is over ?
"You are a Tiefling. And a Cleric, with the Domain of the Sun. Doesn't that contradict each other ?" "No, all my friends are playing evil. I found that so boring that I decided to be on the good side. And, besides, Sun and Fire, where is the difference, really ?"

Actually Home Edition updates can be paused for up to 35 days and the testing is done by Windows Insiders who receive major updates (ie version changes) before the general user.

Sounds like it is a corrupt *.dat file. Are you using hi-res or standard? If you do try another uninstall/re-install, make sure you remove any leftover traces from the uninstal. Delete install folder as well as the DDO folder in the Documents folder. Sometimes downloaded files are kept in temp folders until successfully installed and these folders are often not deleted by uninstall procedures..

I've removed AV, uninstalled/reinstalled to no avail.
I looked at the links above, but couldnt really do anything with them.

I havent tried deleting the install folder AFTER the uninstall OR deleting the documents folder OR deleting the temp folder.
Will do those three and report back!

    Thanks for all the tips!

Also, if you have it and are comfortable with it, try running some sort of cleanup software that is reputable (don't want to recommend any but some are very useful) and looks for junk files, registry errors, and the like. If no luck, post again. Hope it helps
