I've learned so much from your guide. I honestly didn't know running the quests 4 levels above only provided a -10%xp penalty. For some reason I though the xp penalty was a lot more and tried running R1 on a first life just two levels above the quest. It lead to a lot of deaths and frustration. I even popped in to check out the unoffical DDOdiscord and found someone who was doing the same thing I was doing, running quests two levels above and dying lots. I let them know about how I just learned about how low the xp penalty was and they thanked me for the tip.

Once again thank you so much for this guide.

A Small Problem - Difficulty with end fight getting knocked down by champion wolves - Brawnpits was around 30% health left at end but it was completed
Partycrashers - Was knocked down by mob of illusionary cats and killed by 2 reapers - barely was able to get raised by hireling and retreat near shrine and kill reapers before moving forward

    • Two Wands of Resist Energy level 11 (30 resist) for under 10k total (from auction house)

    - Improved Second Strikes x 3
    Tier 2

    - Divine Might x 3
    - Critical Mastery x1 (new)
    - Exalted Cleave
    - Melee Power Boost
    Tier 3
    - Holy Combatant
    Tier 4
    - Knights Training (new)
    - Censure Demons (new)

    - Vigor of Life

    Sacred Defender
    Cores
    - Holy Bastion
    - Sacred Defense
    Tier 1
    - Extra Lay on Hands x3
    - Durable Defense x3
    Tier 2
    - Resilent Defense x3

    Human
    Core
    - Skill Boost
    Tier 1
    - Improved Recovery

    Plan for Level 10
Run most level 6s on R1 with a few run on elite (e.g., tangleroot level 6 quests)
Run level 7 quests on Normal + Hard
Slavelords Chain on Normal + Hard + Elite (and maybe additional runs) for full minimum level 8 gearset (playing gear tetris is very hard relying on drops and auction house - slave lords seems right answer if I get enough mats)
I need to move toward more sufficient self-healing as the hireling cleric struggled to stay alive in 3 level 5 quests and I expect that # to rise the next few levels. My self-healing is not good enough in reaper when the hireling dies, but I did manage to get through all quests.

Cumulative List of PITA quests saved for favor cleanup @ 20 or 30
Level 2 Stealthy Repossession - difficult quest for new players - won't be run on reaper so will be run as part of level 20 favor clean-up N/H/E
Level 4 Proof is the Poison - difficult quest for new players - won't be run on reaper so will be run as part of level 20 favor clean-up N/H/E
Level 6 The Price of Freedom - difficult mechanics for new players - won't be run on reaper so will be run as part of level 20 favor clean-up N/H/E
Level 6 Gladewatch Outpost Defense - difficult protect NPC mission for new players with many reaper spawns - won't be run on reaper so will be run as part of level 20 favor clean-up N/H/E

    Thoughts on Hardcore Season 3
At a minimum I will gain 5 favor on hardcore for 50 quick DDO points, but ideally I would run a character up to 13 on my main account and 2 bank accounts mostly on normal so I can hold plat when I TR and for bank space. The idea is to get as much coin lord favor and House K favor I can get for 1 inventory slot and 2 bank slots - maybe if I get enough collapsed portable holes at some point I'll be able to upgrade additional inventory slots. The idea would be to go for 500 or 1000 favor in the process to earn some more DDO points.

Progression of this build guide might be delayed slightly while I work on those characters on hardcore. I won't be looking for a challenge - just looking to earn some DDO points and the free transfer back to my server with a good bank character.

At level 4 and did the Three Barrel Cove wilderness run. Unfortunately I ransacked both rare encounter chests and did not get either of the named items They are both very good named items but I think I will avoid doing this in future runs. I was starting to fall asleep doing it.

They should really increase the drop rate a little.

    Question Level by Level?

My apologies if I'm missing this somewhere amidst the videos and posts.
Is there a level by level breakdown of which Classes you're taking with this build?
I see that you took Rogue at level 1, and I realize that there is only one more Rogue level involved.
As a total newb, it's not obvious to me at what level you took that other Rogue level.
    Thanks so much.

The first two levels of the build are Rogue and can be seen at the end of Questing @ Level 1 and Taking Level 2.

you can space them out though as i suggested - it gives you more skill points in one go that lets you play catch up with any skills u missed

That would also work- the main reason I take it at level 2 is for evasion. Evasion is a tremendous benefit and especially helpful on a first life character as long as we can maintain a respectable reflex save.

This is helpful feedback. I added the class I am taking to each level as well. Thank you.

I want to throw out there that running red fens on normal at level 7 is a good way to get gear - it will be fine at level 7 on normal and you get guaranteed named drops as an end reward. Hindsight is 20/20 - This should have been the first thing I did at level 7 is go for some red fens gear. This is a nice alternative to lottery drops like Three Barrel Cove wilderness.

Once I get to Level 7 I will do this. Thank you I'm also going to try out hardcore for the favor and points. I won't do anything above normal or hard, and will only do Elite when I'm seven or nine levels above the quest level.

There are a few restrictions on hardcore - the major one being you can't run a quest once you are more than 4 levels above the base level of the quest. So this means once you are level 6 you can't run a level 1 quest anymore on hardcore. Once you transfer the character back to your main server that restriction is lifted.

Default thank you for this guide

Thank you so much for making this guide.

I just recently came back to DDO and this has been an enormous help, the game has changed so much since I last played it might as well be a whole new game, and it's a little overwhelming. Thanks for the time and effort you've put into this, it is greatly appreciated.

    Dead Predators - R2
    Valak's Mausoleum - R1
    Redwillow Ruins - R1
    Graverobber - Normal + Hard

    Gatekeeper's Grove
Slave Pits of the Undercity - Normal + Hard x 6 + Elite
    Secret of the Slaver's Stockade - Normal + Hard x 6
Assault on the Aerie of the Slave Lords - Normal + Hard x 6

    Three-Barrel Cove
    Troglodytes' Get - R2

    Full Chains
    Red Fens Chain: Normal
Sentinels of Stormreach - Normal + Hard

Most Difficult Quests I ran at level 10
Slave Pits of the Undercity Elite - gear was too under-level, didn't die but had to recall out to repair my level 4 armor mid-way through the quest. Trap DCs have a higher dc compared to other level 8 quests and the combination of traps with mobs required me to run the quest very slowly. This quest was more difficult than level 7 quests on reaper.

Just farmed all the Red Fens gear. That stuff is really good for ML level 7 gear. Definitely worth it.

    Ruins of Threnal - Hard

    Most Difficult Quests I ran
Bargain of Blood R2: This has traditionally been an easier quest at the level, but I died once near a shrine and was incapacitated another time and barely avoided a wipe. The issue had more to do with champions and reapers than the quest itself, but still it was the toughest quest at this level and was nearly a wipe. I dropped back down to R1 after this and questing went much easier. I had some close calls in most of the R2s I ran and my hireling cleric struggled with spell points and while I have some self-healing - I still rely on a hireling for most of my healing.
