    Three lives means people are more likely to buy stat tomes, LR1 hearts etc. as the risk of losing it all in a single death (lag, trap or otherwise) is removed.

    I thus see this both as a result of the many lag deaths the last time and as a means to increase revenue. I dont think thats an entirely bad decision.

    If the rewards are worth it rather than just cosmetics and horses (boring to me) I will bite likely spend some money along the way. But something interesting like the red footsteps from HCL1 will be required for me to go all in.

    On the technical side I think they should give a 7 day timeout if you die meaning that the character does not resurrect until 7 days after the death. That way dying still matters a lot more but isnt actually fatal gamewise.

    I think 7 days is a bit much considering the limited length, 72 hours might be better. That's long enough that you really don't want to die, but short enough to keep people playing.

    This does not sound good at all. I hope I'm pleasantly surprised, but it seems we are in for a let down. Instead of stepping things up a level (harder challenge, better rewards), it looks like we're getting a watered down copy & paste version of HC2.

    Oh well, my wife will be happy. I'll bust out the first four rewards in three weeks and have more time this summer for the garden. The only time-consuming reward (400K rxp) being a cosmetic archon (I'll save time & just summon one with a scroll if I get lonely) I won't worry about investing much time/money this go round.

    I hate to sound so sarcastic, but so many good things could be done with HC League and making it easier should not be one of them. The server population crashed a lot faster on HC2 and I anticipate it will be hard to find groups on HC3 after folks sail grab their rewards via extra lives and take off. At the very least there should be a higher tier of rewards for those that survive without dying.

    One thing I would like to see is some cosmetic reward that varies slightly depending on how you get to 20. Maybe a cape that is one color if you can do it in 0 deaths, another for 1 death and another for 2. Something more subtle the color of the broach clasp being different could also work. Or maybe an eye patch instead of a cape.

    Or maybe something darkly humorus: An outfit for 0 deaths, the same outfit with a mechanical leg for one, and the same outfit with a mechanical leg and a mechanical hand for two deaths.

    Players could still reroll and try again if they want to try for the "0 deaths" option on a first death, but could always decide to keep going and get the other rewards (the horse, the sparkly footprints, the steampunk cyborg look, or whatever)

    EDIT: and I see HedgeHogShadow y was busy suggesting the same thing while I was typing this :-)

    I like the tiered reward based on death, but it's possible the 2 death tier has a better looking reward than 0 death tier. So now you have people intentionally dying lol. Not saying this is bad or wrong, just that it amuses me. I'd definitely intentionally die if it meant I'd get the reward I want.

    I would trade the 3 lives per toon for something else more cannon.

    Instead of that, when you die...5 minute timer starts and you become that gem thing BUT CAN NOT RELEASE.
    If a PLAYER member of your party can retrieve your gem, get it to within 10 feet of a rez shrine and then
    cast REZ SPELL (memorized or SLA version)... then your back.
    Perm. lose 1 point of CON.
    otherwise...5 min are done, your done.

    ^ THIS IS CANON
    THAT is how you do it.

    I would imagine so, as long as you stay in quest when you revive. If Mortality wishes to see you and he revives you then Heroic Shroud still won't happen.

    There really should be no ambiguity.

    If you die, thats it. Over. Otherwise the entire underlying premise of Hardcore is removed and its just a normal server with some different rules.

    Without risk there is just no point to it. If you lag out, bad luck. I've lost at least half my toons by lag but I dont care.

    Eh, I don't care. So long as I receive my due recognition for getting the most amount of favor or reaper points without dying, even if it's not the most favor and points overall. That being said... I'm probably not going to want to group with people who are more reckless with their lives. Here's hoping they're separate servers.

    Enjoyed the first 2 seasons, and am loving the free horses for the 5k favor, adding extra lives doesn't bother me.
    Darkwinn, Milkus, Terismina, Gothmawg, Dreylock, Drunarah, Bigbhamboo, etc on Sarlona / Brixlynn, Mofus, Curgoth, Deidlit, etc on Ghalanda.

    Nice change - should hopefully attract more people that didn’t want to deal with lag deaths. Still enough of a challenge as probably people will take on more risks.

    It's only hardcore if dying means you have to find an original DDO: Stormreach retail box and use the code there to start a new account from scratch.

    Super True Hardcore: Alt-F4? Pull the router cable? Power failure? No longer will you be saved! Dead within 1 min, character and inventory PLUS your shared bank is deleted!

    Can we at least get more interesting Leaderboards and Stats when the Hardcore seasons finish?? Favor and Reaper XP are nice but why not add more? I'd love to see like regions and server rankings. Make it more competitive! But also more fun facts like which races/classes/builds were used the most or the most succesful? Which quests had the most deaths or which monster killed the most players?

    Depends on which game department you ask ----

    Accounting wants whatever stimulates more subscriptions.

    GM's want what what will make the most players happy.

    Programmers want whatever requires the least amount of coding...preferably none.

    Promotions want COOL PICTURES.

    mix all that in a number 9 cauldron ------ and you get whatever crawls out :-P
