Default Best heroic DPS weapon for pure barbarian?

I am a bit out of the barby loop but I wanted to go a few racial past lives with them for the heck of it.

What would be the best heroic weapon for a barbarian? Is it still SoS hands down or has anything changed? I don't care about which built it's for.

I'd say it depends on which tier-5 barbarian tree you want. For Berserker's Focused Wrath, I'd say SoS or falchion (Ravenloft, Greensteel, or Tail of the Scorpion); for Ravager's Crit Rage, probably Riftmaker which I think is still the only x4 2H weapon.

Yep. Carnifex, then SoS and ride to 20. If you don't have SoS, then maybe Blackrazor, Riftmaker or Tail of the Scorpion. Bloom can be a fun swap weapon also.

https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Tail_of_the_Scorpion is annoying to farm, but it's really nice because of the bonuses and the Metalline. If you're doing a few lives, it's worth getting before you TR.

SoS is still up top for murdering generic humans/elves/etc.

Make sure you pick up an Antique Greataxe before you TR too. I like it even more than Carnifex because it's so very flexible in what it's good at killing.

Keen/vorp falchion until 10 then SOS until 20.

Only thing that comes close to SOS is Tail, but still falls short of the mark. Vorpal means nothing when you're one-hitting on any crit due to x5 multiplier with sos and FB tree

I've been running barbarian a few times on my racial completionist & I'm fond of my ToEE acid falchion... single target damage isn't as good but it can wipe out groups effectively, I typically use it in quests with lots of mobs until I get the tail - don't have a SoS sadly, though whirlwind from the desert has that same expanded threat range which makes it pretty sweet. I also rather like wave of sorrow.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

I know this is a necro but I just pulled a Wave of Sorrow.

How does that compare with the Echo of Blackrazor?

I am dusting off my H-Orc Barbarian.

The problem with all of these weapons is that they're two handed. If you want the REAL best weapon for Barbarians in Heroic levels, here it is:

...if you run the chain often enough, you could even try to get a Club of the Holy Flame with a Mythic bonus!

Wave is a higher level weapon than Blackrazor so it has higher base damage and more proc damage. It is better than heroic Blackrazor in every way.

I agree with the previous comments though, SOS is the best choice, followed by Falchions in general.

Wave of sorrow is amazing ... in elite. It's terrible in reaper because it does less con damage. I used it extensively in hardcore where we farmed so much favor at levels 15-19.

Heroic echo of the blackrazor is actually pretty bad unless you use it for killing slimes exclusively. Even frostbrand or whirlwind are better.

However, this life I did a ton of testing and I'm pretty sure nothing, nothing beats sword of shadows on r1. I tested against riftmaker, vulkoor's gift falchion, shinning devastation, GS 3xPos, Echo and wave of sorrow. The only thing that would is slotted bonecrusher with MPs at level 18. My build was ravager, it'll probably do double damage in a dedicated frenzy dps build.
