New Spells: Improved Teleport and Word of Summons

Having returned from a recent journey to Middle Earth, I suggest adding two new spells to help groups assemble go more quickly.

Improved Teleport: This spell works exactly like Teleport but allows all party members within 5 meters to travel with the caster. In essence, it combines the features of Greater Teleport with the destination list of Teleport.

Word of Summons: This spell allows the caster to summon one party member to his or her current position. Word of Summons may only be cast in a place where a hireling contact may be used. Word of Summons essentially works like Summoning Horns in Middle Earth. The restriction related to hireling contract use prevents any mischief. I suggest pairing this spell with a new setting, [] Always ignore Word of Summons.

I suggest making both spells readily available as scrolls and recharging magic items for obvious reasons.

Or, even easier, just make Bracelet of Friends a vendor-sold item rather than Store-only. I cant imagine its a big revenue stream, but it would be a huge boon for facilitating grouping.

No matter. That item or the equivalent needs to be easily acquired in game for a small amount of platinum and easily used by any character. That was an extremely unwise thing to make into a minor revenue source.

Yes this would be a great idea. Bracelet of friends is not a good alternative store only and only usuable in public areas.

Word of summons to teleport party members to entrance of quest or slayer area could really improve grouping. I sometimes don't join a group if they are in a quest too far away.

Another spell I would love to see looked at, and maybe added to, is Word of Recall. It would be nice to be able to have other churches we could recall home to, depending on faith. Or just a list of locations like teleport.

The vendor or caster version of the Bracelet of Friends is a sweet idea.
As for the Improved Teleport, it'd have to have the same limitations as the current Greater Teleport or some new implementation. (I'd suggest making it both the Teleport spell THEN a Bracelet effect for every party member instead - that'd let everyone in your party get to somewhere you're currently headed, without letting you target someone that's not in your group like Greater Teleport could. Plus, it wouldn't care about party members moving out of range)

a guildy was just complaining about this. with the bracelet of friends not working in questing areas. alternately i can see where this would kill a portion of the game making so only one person ever runs through an explorer area and eliminating needed human dex scores at decent levels tp "Mario" some of the quests as i have heard it referred to. but who doesn't remember every one waiting around at the start of a quest waiting on that one guy to find it cuz they are new to the game/area. some thing in between eliminating difficulty and waiting (people raging over waiting and letting said player back in a group = bad for noobs to stay) would be ideal.

a third teleport spell with all the current locations from both previous spells and aoe/whole party also maybe add some newer areas like you just did with gatekeepers area yes please and thank you much

While we're at it can we get Improved Teleport / Greater Teleport to work in public areas? I understand it doesn't currently work that way because randos would be trying to teleport people as a griefing strategy. But could we just limit the teleport prompt to people in your party?

Obviously, we don't know sale numbers, but it would be nice to have them function like a hireling summons. And/or add them to the remnant sale list, even if only to the special bonus weekend list. It just isn't useful enough right now since it only works in public areas. This would also add something people would want to the remnant options.

Any chance while your talking bout new spells druids could get 1 or 2 more 9th lvl as they have the same amount of slots as spells so no choice at all? and wondered why they didnt get some of the other spells added for wiz like iceberg or thunderstrike?

This is only a suggestion and I have no programming background and don't know how you'd go about making such an item or if it is even possible. Starting with the Key to Evening Star and then adding the Bottle of Mist, the Boarding Pass and the D12 from the Birthday event there are lots of ways to teleport to several main adventure areas and back to the Market in Stormreach, and I can see some teleport special item coming with Feywild and other future expansions. All of these items take up inventory space.

I would like to see an item, probably from the DDO Store, after all SSG could use the income, an Item that would be able to be fed (ala sentient weapons) with the other teleport items and then add their destinations to itself much like the filigree add their abilities to a sentient weapon, thus consolidating all these great-to-have items into one item, so it has a smaller foot print in player inventories.

To my knowledge, no magic item exists in the game that includes more than one button activated skill. Your suggestion strikes me as a convoluted solution requiring complicated programming. I would much rather see all permanent travel skill items become permanent feats that persist through all forms of character reset. Sadly, since the latter suggestion has appeared in these forums many times, I must presume some licensing issue or technical hurdle prevents implementation.

Please note, I am not dumping on your idea. Many of us have made similar suggestions. I am just pointing out a technical issue. Suggestions that bump into technical issues almost never get implemented.
