Default A Great Crossbow build for those that don't have inquisitive

Hello everyone, Strimtom here. I come to you with a build that isn't really as good as inquisitive, and honestly isn't even as good as other great crossbow builds. Lets examine why.

Ok so why don't people play pure rogue? It's because hip flask sucks big time.

    • Very long cooldown
    • Barely heals you.
    • Adds small amounts of damage.
    • Worse than a runearm.

So since you don't want to go pure rogue, what are you to do? Well to start, you should always be 18 rogue/2 X instead of pure, since the capstone just isn't good. Artificer is going to be your main draw here over most other things since rune arms are really strong.

    Is great Crossbow bad?

It's not as good as inquisitive, but it's still good for levelling and can pull some decent numbers. Again, inquisitive is better by 25-30%, but great crossbow is a good option for those that don't have inquisitive.

    Great Crossbow Rogue
    Rogue 20
    True Neutral Human

Important note about this build: This is not the most optimal build for great crossbow rogue, this is just what I played to get a feel for what pure is like. 18 Rogue/2 Artificer is way better and you can find a better build here.

    Inquisitive costs 495 DPs.

    A +6 Supreme tome costs 5,145 DPs.

. . . I question who is the target market for this build, is what I'm suggesting.

Also even with a +6 tome, base DEX 14 is too low to quality for Improved Sneak Attack and Combat Archery epic feats.

Default So is the 10/6/4 split not even worth testing?

I'm currently playing a 10/6/4 R/F/A at cap, and I'm having no problem slapping the mess out of reaper Sharn mobs. You only sacrifice 1 multiplier and get access to Endless Fusillade. It's beastly.

Can you elaborate on exactly why this is? How much extra damage are we talking? My back of a piece of paper calculation put the extra at for most runearms in endgame at (1d6-1)*RP + (charge shot) and the extra enchantment bonuses you get from Runearm. Certainly better but not "way better" in my opinion but I guess that is subjective.

Not a bad build, but Spooky's, as you said, is a little better. What really makes GXB rogues shine is the double vorpal range, no-save knockdown, and IPS paired with excellent legendary weapons like volley. You might not have the potential DPS of an inquisitive, but you'll vorp and knockdown everything in front of you twice as often.

Just the metal-type and Ghost Touch additions to the crossbow you get and the infinite recharging Fireballs for breaking boxes on their own are enough to make 18/2 better than Rogue 20.

    And that is beautiful

    Thumbs up

I do like that you listed less than half the skills you can afford. Emphasizes the "ymmv" factor of an Int-based Rogue. That part works.

    Hey, don't break what works.

The gear is out-dated but the build still outperforms 20 rogue. For your neads of great xbow and no inquisitive its the best option.

As a Pure Rogue your build is wanting. You missed the mark. Nice try though, but came up short.
20 Rogue on Reaper 10 works pretty nice. And ranging is the way to go, but that's just half the battle.
Unfortunately your channel spreads the wrong message on a ranged rogue, but hey that's ok....I'd rather it be that way then FOTM and create more nerfing of rogue's as it has already been done several times. Unfortunately that is the state of the developers mindset for now and a crippled system is the wall we have to climb over to still play as a rogue.

    Tally-ho good sir!
