Long hiatus, looking to return

So much has changed it is a bit overwhelming not to have someone or a group of people giving brutal advice.

I have no issue with starting fresh (I have a lot of stuff unlocked account wide) and getting to know new folks.

I use mic - older (near 50). GMT -4.

I used to play a lot, the guild I belonged to died and there is no spark anymore.

Not really into discord - computer hates it and my phone is dated (I like having a small digital footprint)

Only caveat - I tell a lot of dirty jokes and am a bit inappropriate for serious people or minors, I can hold my tongue/

What server are you on? If you're on Thelanis, my guild Magefire Cannon is friendly to new and returning players. We do have a guild Discord but I don't insist on it.

Knowing a little about how you plan to play would go along way towards a new home. Hardcore raider, casual weekly, daily player? Hours you plan to play? Since u mentioned Fernia you current toon's are on Ghallanda? Are you planning to stay there or move somewhere else? If you may end up moving, i'd recommend making a character on each server and see what is more populated during your primary play time.
