The Thrill of the Hunt - How do I get past Wheloon prison gate ???

Hello,
I am in Wheloon Prison trying to get to Merchant's Townhouse so that I can enter quest; The Thrill of the Hunt
The quest Thrill of the Hunt is part of Shadowfell Conspiracy adventure pack, which is new for me.
There is a gate in my way that I have not figured out how to open it.
I have tried to jump over wall, but it is too tall.
The four (4) YouTube videos I reviewed for The Thrill of the Hunt started after entering the Merchant's Townhouse.
This is only my third quest in Wheloon Prison as this is a NEW area for me.
I see the Merchant's Townhouse on the map and I can see door to enter quest thru the gate, but I cannot get past gate.
Is this the best security system in the world OR what?

It's technically possible to jump the wall, but it's not easy and I'm pretty sure it requires something like cannith boots or favored soul wings. once you've run the entire chain once you'll be able to open that gate as a shortcut.

What you are meant to do, the first time you run the chain at least, is go all the way around. You'll have to go pretty close to the entrance for army of shadow then head east and south.

The gate is basically just an annoying stopgap to make the player go all the way around, and come back through on the other side of the gate - there is a lever to open it on the other side.

If you follow the high wall, keeping it on your right, you'll eventually find a way in, right up near the quest "Army of Shadow" (Netherese Recruiting Center).

Iirc, it involves jumping up on roofs that are NOT immediately adjacent to a "right hand wall". I could be remembering wrong, but I as I recall trying to figure out the same thing, the memory that comes to mind is that it's not intuitive.

Don't try and jump the wall. Walk round to the open gate as suggested above. You'll have to go both high (rooftops) and low (street) to get there but it isn't really hard.

Jumping the wall won’t work without leap of faith. You’ll have to follow the wall northwest until you find the open gate to get inside. Honestly, it’s much easier if you do the quests in order because the third quest, Army of Shadow is pretty close to the open gate anyway.
